“Nothing billionaires do is nonprofit” is an incredibly important thing to remember. Relatedly, @hilaryagro.com calling philanthropy “guillotine insurance” has really stuck in my brain.
Of course it would. Capitalized medicine is just dressed up extortion. “Pay this absurd amount of money or we’ll let you die.”

Nothing billionaires do is nonprofit, no matter what they say. Even their donations ultimately work in their financial favor. That’s how they stay billionaires.

Growing up in Gaza, I didn't realize that the siege I was living under was unique or that others didn't face a constant threat of death. It was only after I left that I understood I had grown up in a concentration camp, and that it shaped my life.

When we had universal free school meals in FY2022 it cost the federal government $21 billion, which sounds like a lot but it is only $713 per student…

…and only $63 per person in the U.S., which is like the cost of 4-5 lunches at Cava.
