Elite impunity isn't anything new in America.
In the musical Finian's Rainbow, the song,"When the Idle Poor Become the Idle Rich" observes:

But isn't it the case that in most residential neighborhoods a goodly percentage of residents are themselves renters?
And more than a few of those renters are themselves BANANAs (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything.)?
Emerson rules. Noone thinks his mind is small.
It’s also the biggest tell that they don’t really think renters are really residents.
NIMBYism has a lot of strange attributes, one of them being a total distortion of language.

For example: when NIMBYs complain about the idea of building more homes in "residential neighborhoods" –

How is someone supposed to respond to that. Where are homes supposed to go.

I fear that this is an overly optimistic view. There are several Justices who would like to overturn Obergefell and Lawrence, and even Griswold but seem to be waiting for a case with the appropriate standing. This one wasn't it. But they are still waiting.

WE NEED LEADERSHIP IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
WE NEED NEW LEADERSHIP IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

I understand.
But the fact that we are talking about it in these terms indicates that we have internalized and accepted the process of turning our Congress into a Parliament -- making the Party most important.
And I am not convinced that that is a good way to go.
I don’t want Chuck Schumer out because of his no vote to end the shut down. I want Chuck Schumer out because he couldn’t control his caucus and 8 of the people in it defected to the fascist side and voted with them!

He needs to be gone as Senate minority leader like yesterday!

On the Senate vote:
A) Can we presume that DoJ uncovered skeletons in a few closets?
B) Doesn't the House have to vote on this? And to do that, don't they have to come back into session? And if they do, doesn't Johnson have to swear in Adelita Grijalva?
Epstein files, anyone?

I would add retired people to that list. There are an awful lot of us, and many aren't all that well off.
Of course, supporting retirees may not pay off as we tend to be set in our ways and the "My mind is made up, don't try to confuse me with facts" mantra may apply in any given case.
Democrats can't defeat Trump-MAGA authoritarianism without an agenda that stands squarely on the side of working people.

We need a pro-worker, pro-democracy, anti-establishment movement that will take on oligarchy like never before.

It starts with the party rejecting Big Money.

'Government is not the solution to the problem: government is the problem'
---Ronald Reagan

Who would have thought that as Republican President would make that the core of his administration.
Though, tbf, the problem is with the President, not the whole government -- which he has gutted.

Quite possibly because Air Traffic Controllers are professionals who have a sense of integrity and personal responsibility.
A frightening proportion of ICE agents do not seem to fit that description.
other98

Why are ICE agents being paid during the shutdown, but not air traffic controllers?

And he has said he is not going to do that unless the Democrats in Congress capitulate and pass his "Big Beautiful Bill" without negotiation.
Consider this. A judge ordered a president to feed hungry children. The president doesn’t want to do that. He was ordered to do that.

Not everything these people are doing is about the Epstein Files. They are also just sociopaths who relish harming people

Not only that it exists, but that it works.
And a lot of the professional propaganda is much subtler than Axe body spray marketing. It can sneak up on you without a whiff of warning.
If you think propaganda doesn't exist, you didn't live through AXE spray marketing and the wave of stank during schools.

Suggestion:
Same style cap in royal blue, with message:
TRUMP WASN'T
RIGHT ABOUT
ANYTHING!
Using the same font, the message would fit in the same space.
Leave in the 45/47 on the sides.
Ideally, make in USA rather than China.

Should be straightforward for anyone who has the equipment.

In spite of modern revelations, the usage of the term "john" to refer to the customer of a prostitute did not arise from Donald's middle name.
Nor did the usage of "john" as toilet.
Both are older than that.
We have to wonder about significant-name practices, though.

My take is that it is more a tell on the culture than on the species.
I still have faith in the human animal, but I am less sanguine about the religions of Moses and Abraham.
I feel like the fact we enter an age of infinite access to data & information being accompanied by multiple pro-ignorance movements is sort of telling on the species a bit.

The only question I have on this is, "Why would I trust the politically-influenced Colombian media any more than I can trust the politically-influenced US media?"
October 20, 2025 at 6:36 PM
I would differ slightly.
Guaranteed access to healthcare, which I presume is what was meant
The right to live free from violence, not just gun violence
Plus the rights listed in the first ten Amendments to the Constitution
-A living wage
-Guaranteed healthcare
-The right to join a union
-The right to vote
-The right to choose when, how, and with whom you start a family
-The right for you and your family to live free from gun violence

These are the foundations of real freedom.
