#Attachment #MythBusting #35: "Rewiring" our #brain to become more #secure

Yes, this is a thing, but it's not a "quick fix". The key is to enable our brain to build a (new) predictive model of #safety.

New study from the @soneatlab.bsky.social:

Securely stressed: association between #attachment and empathic #stress in romantic couples

👉🏻 doi.org/10.1038/s415...

Secure attachment can be both a ✅ resilience and a potential ⚠️ risk factor within romantic relationships under stress.

🤔❓ How good is #AI when asked about the neurobiological basis of #attachment?

👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Very bad!

Don't rely on AI for such a complex and nuanced question. Instead, use resources based on real & recent scientific evidence - like my #Attachment #MythBusting series or #NAMA & #NAMDA.

#Attachment MythBusting #33: #SexDifferences in Attachment

Yes, there are sex differences in attachment. But they are more complex than #PopPsychology suggests.

#Attachment #MythBusting #32: The "Anxious-Avoidant Trap"

The internet is full of posts mentioning this trap, apparently one of the most common and challenging attachment combinations within close relationships. But what’s science telling us? Let’s have a closer look!

#Attachment #MythBusting #31 – #AttachmentTheory versus #Nonattachment in #Buddhism

Attachment theory and Buddhism - calling for “nonattachment” - don’t have anything in common. Or do they...?

#Attachment #MythBusting #28: #Neurobollocks

Adding a #neuroscience element to claims about attachment can be helpful, but often results in "neurobollocks".

We also say that multimodal and dynamic approaches are essential for future progress.

Interactive signals come from different modalities, giving rise to convergence across physiological/endocrinological, behavioural, neural signals, and high-level cognitive systems, such as beliefs.

We say that the #hyperscanning effect varies as a function of interactivity and social closeness of interactants.

The closeness and interactivity dimensions are depicted as orthogonal for illustration purposes, but these can (and often do) overlap - although they don’t have to overlap.
December 27, 2024 at 10:36 AM
We call inter-brain dynamics beyond common-input processing the “hyperscanning effect”.

We differentiate #hyperscanning from sequential scanning, and show that hyperscanning can be achieved during co-presence, two-way interaction and group interaction.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Much more work on #attachment and #neurodivergence (e.g., #autism) needs to be done. Including the question whether the usual attachment measures remain valid and meaningful. I discussed some of this in my Attachment Myth-Busting post #19: pvrticka.com/attachment-m...
