I started this year with FFXVI fanart and I'm about to end it the same way!

Obviously, this is amazing BUT the thing I love most, is that it's directly poking fun at the desire/fetish to overanimate overlapping action & smears.

Asking someone of James Baxter's calibre to *intentionally* do this (as well as mess up the spacing on a bounce) is funny in the nerdiest way.

Page 5 We see to be floating in the sky. Gustopher looks down to see what's below. I don't want to think about what's below. I focus all my energy on holding onto Gustopher. He suddenly looks upward at something glowing. I don't pay a lot of attention. I'm still trying my best to stay alive. Why do some people dream of flying? This is terrifying! Gustopher smiles at the sight in front of him. Good for him. My own grip is starting to fail me, I'm starting to fall away from him. For a briefest moment of thoughts briefly drift away from the fear of falling and I see what Gustopher sees. The moon, bright and glowing right in front of us. It's beautiful. Despite everything, I'm glad to see it. Page 6 Something feels different. The world seems less floating somehow. I feel myself being slowly drawn to the ground. Gustopher doesn't seem to be too worried about any of this. I guess if he's fine, then I'm fine too. We find ourselves lowering into a foggy place. The stars above us around quickly replaced with a thick mist. I find myself feeling even more disoriented. Suddenly, I feel solid ground beneath me. It's sidewalk. All my fur stands on end as finally touch the cold hard ground. This place reminds of where are I first met Gustopher.

Page 1 My name is Mewbert. I am cat. I live in a house with another cat named Nougat and two giants. The bigger giant, August, is in the food room and preparing to to make something special. This is one of my favorite times because he'll give me food if I stare at him long enough. He's wrapped himself in cloth that says "LET US SLEIGH". He claims it's a joke that works on multiple levels. I don't care, I just want food. "I haven't made this in a long time," he says, "Could you get me the recipe book from my desk?" "Got it!" says the smaller giant. His name is Gustopher. I follow Gustopher to fetch this book. It's possible that more food might be involved and I don't wish to miss that. The giants have filled our home with strange things. Like a tree covered in colorful lights. Silly giants. Don't they know that trees belong outside? Gustopher has found the book but something has fallen out of it. His face is blank as he stares at it but I can tell he's feeling sad. Page 2 The treats have been made and the giants have prepared for sleep. I've heard murmuring of tomorrow being an important day. Gustopher has a smile on his face but I can tell that there's something upsetting him. I've decided that I should watch over him tonight. I am a good cat. Gustopher closes his eyes but something begins to feel off. The window glows a faint purple color. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do that. Then again, the giants have also been putting bright and colorful objects everywhere so I don't know what's normal anymore. I've tried to help them by knocking things off the table but they keep putting them back. They're weird. Gustopher has noticed the window's glow. He leans forward and watches it carefully. I watch from bedroom entrance. He surely can't get into too much trouble, right? Page 3 Gustopher looks through his window. I watch him look through it. The giants are such interesting creatures. They're easily entertained by windows and glowing rectangles. I could watch them for hours. Something is suddenly off. Is Gustopher starting to rise up into the air. I don't think he's supposed to do that. This doesn't seem normal. Have the giants always been able to float off randomly? I'll have to tell Nougat about this later. Okay, now this really isn't good. He's starting to float out the window. The invisible force field isn't working. I have to do something! Maybe if I grab onto him, I can weight him down. I leap into action! I can't let him float away! He's really good at petting! Oh no. I seem to have gone through the window too. This is not good. This is not right. I don't know what to do. I hold tight to Gustopher's leg. Page 4 Are we alive? I think we're still alive. I'm afraid to open my eyes. I'm holding tight to Gustopher so I don't fall. Okay, deep breath in and deep breath out. This is fine. I'm fine. Whatever is happening is fine. I open my eyes and I see the night sky. Beautiful stars surrounding me. That's nice. Until I realize that they're surrounding me. Oh, we're high up in the night sky. This is not fine. I hold tight to Gustopher. I don't think this is normal.

got to thinking about one of my favorite replies i've ever gotten to a post that I had made about Eren and Cahciua
this person gets it
a screenshot of a tumblr reply by siderealcity that says "I love that Erenville and Cahciua's relationship is packed with several layers of "this wasn't supposed to happen." From the very start, on the boat to Tural, Erenville tells us that he never knew his father at all. Cahciua is a single parent. In a society where the men are supposed to be this connecting thread moving between communities, Erenville and Cahciua are already cut off and isolated. In the gatherer role quests, we learn that Shetona men are supposed to leave home when they come of age, to travel and start families. Shunye, the gatherer questgiver, lost his first family when he was about thirty. Just a few years older than Erenville is now. Erenville has stayed with his mother way longer than a typical Shetona boy would have. And Cahciua never once mentions this. Her worries over her son aren't that he's a late bloomer, or he hasn't gone out to start a family, it's that he's unhappy and antisocial. She doesn't encourage him to act like an adult have kids, the way Shunye's sister does, she encourages him to see the world make friends. I get the distinct impression that neither of them wanted to let go yet. Cahciua is trying to gently encourage her son to be independent of her, to explore the world on his own and to bond with others besides herself, but even then, the reward he's promised for finding the Golden City is that they can go exploring together. She doesn't want to let him go, and he doesn't want to leave her, even if it's maybe not in his best interest to stay with his mother forever. And they both know it, but neither one will say it out loud." the second part of the tumblr post that says "He's also only been in Sharlayan working as a gleaner for three years. That's, "I went away to college" amounts of time for us, and since Shetona live for centuries, that could even be seen as "I spent the summer abroad." They fully expected to see each other again. They had all the time in the world left. And then the dome appears. By the time they find each other again, they both have to confront the reality that their time is up and neither one knows how to do it. Not only does Cahciua clearly not know how to tell her son the truth, he doesn't know how to tell his mother that he knows, even after he finds out. If someone says it out loud, it'll become true. There's no taking it back anymore. So they just don't. Sphene is the one who tears them apart. Both in outing Cahciua as Endless and for closing the connection to the cloud. Cahciua is wholly trapped within the dome. The sole adventure she can ever go on her son with is, in fact, the one they have in Living Memory. This is the fulfillment of her promise to him, which makes his reaction to her final request here, I think, that much more poignant. The thing they both wanted, is now the goodbye neither one ever wanted to say. "
