What the fuck. What the fuck is even happening. Fuck these people, fuck Elon, and fuck AI
BREAKING: X’s chatbot Grok isn’t just making AI porn deepfakes, it’s now making Nazi AI porn deepfakes, undressing women and showing them wearing “swastika bikinis”. Many of these women are Jewish, including a recently deceased Holocaust survivor.

Today's album was Superorganism's self-titled debut. It was nothing like I could have ever expected, but I still liked it. I especially like how textured it feels

Only day three of my album-a-day thing, but it's really interesting to notice how some (probably most of not all, but not the point) artists have certain tells or motifs present throughout their music. Sometimes it's just on one album and other times it's their entire catalogue.

If you're an American (or from another similar western nation) I cannot stress enough that you should look into the history of the atrocities the USA has committed in South America. This is not new and we cannot let the horrific crimes perpetuated in this nation's name repeat

The first album of the year was Tommy by The Who. It is an incredible piece of work. There are a handful of things (lyrically) that make it clear that it's from 1969, but it sounds beautiful and it tells a crazy fucking story.

This is a delightful read

"We don’t think about the art of our craft and the discipline of its application, we think about throughput and scale."
you’re right! it feels mostly awful to Go Online™, these days. the internet in a sad state, for reason after reason after reason. but there is a way to fix it; to trade the voidful howling for a quiet & joyful song.

here’s how to win the war for the soul of the internet, and build the Web We Want.

AI browsers are straight out of the enshittification playbook • Cory Dransfeldt
Enshittification isn't cliché, it's simply pervasive. Browsers being launched by AI companies will, undoubtedly, follow the same playbook we've seen over and over again.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

You know what would be cool? If some of these guys tried to replace the internet with a simple-answers machine where they control what's inside, how you access it, and what it's allowed to say. I can't imagine any problems with that! Maybe we should use their output to build all future software?

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone

- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil
- more spyware

but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.
