✨ The Macabre by Kosoko Jackson

🎨🖤This one surprised me in the best way. Cursed paintings, hidden grief, and a whole lot of globetrotting darkness and queer rep!

I love the Afrofuturist textures that reminded me of Black Panther. Ashing-Giwa here moves in a slower, deeper current, asking what endures when power reshapes everything.

Especially painful after the loss of constitutional abortion rights in the U.S. 💔 The real horror isn’t the witches, it’s what’s happening in real life

Despite the headline it’s not George RR Martin personally going for them cos he’s rich and famous. It’s all of us.

The test case used his work, but it’s about the plain-as-day issue that ANY generative AI ignores and infringes copyright, by passing off.

That’s a win for basic law.
Judge rules George R.R. Martin and other authors can sue OpenAI for copyright infringement

• Said ChatGPT generated 'Game of Thrones' content similar enough to infringe copyright

• OpenAI’s motion to dismiss was denied

Truly loving these Chuck Wendig novels:

The Wanderers: an apocalyptic epic that’s as timely as it is terrifying.

The Book of Accidents: chilling, twisty haunted house tale with a beating heart

Finished reading Palaver by Brian Washington and feeling nostalgic

I loved it. It’s a subtle, powerful, complex, feel-good novel about healing past wounds and the joys of new found family.

Have y’all read “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler? I’m (finally) reading it right now for the first time, and I HIGHLY recommend it - especially for this time, right now 👀🔥

(Published in 1993 but set NOW 😳)

(It’s now available as a graphic novel, too) #scifi #classicnovel #BookSky #reading

Catalina by Karla C Villavicencio deserves more hype!

An undocumented student discovers her grandfather ignored immigration letters, putting their futures at risk.

A bold campus debut: ambition, belonging & the immigrant experience.

I own the first listed banned book An African American and Latinx History of the United States by Paul Ortiz. And plan on adding other banned books to my personal library such as Mexican Whiteboy by Matt de la Peña.

You can ban the books. But you can’t erase our legacies nor our spirits.

One of the best ways to mark #HispanicHeritageMonth is with a book exploring the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic-Americans and their countries of origin.

But for countless school children across the country, those stories are out of reach: pen.org/books-that-e... #BannedBooksWeek #FreeTheBooks

One hundred percent!
"If a Mickey Mouse degree lets you create actual Mickey fucking Mouse, it’s probably easily as good “for the economy” as business studies."

Absolutely a billion % this. "Mickey Mouse" - oh you mean the wee drawing that became a multi billion corporation and spawned a new industry?
This is a good game.

I have an English degree and boosted a major publishing house’s share price, and saved a high street retail chain from closure.

📚 The Lost Reliquary by Lyndsay Ely was a total hoot.

Unfiltered MC, divine body horror, cults, chaos. It’s Gideon the Ninth with fewer bones, more knives.

Drops Oct 21!
