💜 "To move forward, we must understand that the most fundamental component of the anti-trans movement is not feminism. Rather, it is a fear of change and self-determination - reproducing a core tenant of patriarchy itself." - Alice Bethell

www.wearequeeraf.com/self-determi...
Self-determination is a core principle of feminism - TERFs seem to have forgotten that
So why have so-called ‘trans-exclusionary radical feminists’ moved to remove this concept from feminism altogether?

Síoda is noise reactive, so I walk her in the countryside or very early as city still [mostly] sleeps.

While the early walks were hard at the start (Scottish winters are harsh af), it’s become this beautiful way to experience land changing around us.

Like today, we enjoyed a frosty pink sunrise.

🧠 "More and more of us are coming to terms with not only our queer identities, but also our neurodiversity."

What can we learn from ‘neuroqueer’ theory?
Increasing rates of neurodiversity are no more a trend than the higher proportion of people coming out - but there are some parallels between neurodiversity and queerness

I like to have a particular mug for therapy, almost ritualistically.

Last week however, I smashed my usual special mug (dyspraxic life ✌️).

So, I’ve spent this morning pottery painting a new one.

Balance will soon be restored ✨

🏳️‍⚧️ "At this time, nonbinary adults are still waiting for their identity to be legally recognised, meaning we will be misgendered in death as we are in life."

Will I Be Legally Recognised In Death?
More trans youth will now be recognised in their gender at time of death - but there's more to do to respect trans and nonbinary people in life.

Saw a real life Bob Ross painting today.

I internally exclaimed ‘Scoootland’, in a Scottish accent which I absolutely do not have.

Been thinking a lot about queer grief in this moment 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

When we experience profound loss, most often, our grief-culture demands we do something to stop/solve it.

But when it’s the loss of rights+basic acknowledgement, we can’t pathologise our response.

It’s profoundly human to just not feel okay💔

Faith from Buffy was my first ‘oh this definitely doesn’t feel straight’ crush.

Didn’t have the words to describe what that meant for my identity at the time [here’s looking at you 90s rural Ireland 👀], but I’m excited for a big queer rewatch now before the reboot 💖

I’m not sure what to share here yet, but in the absence of knowledge or inspiration, maybe the best place to start is walks with my dog Síoda.

Here’s short video of her ears blowing in the wind. Pure joy.

📍 Ballageich Hill, by Whitelee Windfarm.
✨ A fairly short walk with incredible views.
