Back after leaving Twitter way back when. Never did FB, etc., so I'm just now rediscovering some of my favorite follows.
One of the things I love about chickens is how much they love eating earwigs. My chicks are now two month old pullets and just learned the rules to “what’s under this board“ today. 🥰🐔💕

This isn't hypothetical.

The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

Too Much Stuff

The biggest problem we are facing is Too Much Stuff. What to do with it? How to store the important things? We know we don't want to move a bunch of things to Costa Rica, at least, not at first. We have some storage room here, so, if we rent this place, we can leave some of it…

Buy, Rent, Or?

When we first started thinking about this, we thought we'd sell our house and go. Thinking more deeply on it, we've revised that plan. While our house needs a lot of work, we can take a couple of months and fix it up and get it on the rental market. It is very difficult to move…

While our house needs a lot of work, we can take a couple of months and fix it up and get it on the rental market. It is very difficult to move "back" to California, once you are out of the market.

Why Psychopuppy?

For those who don't know about the Psychopuppy thing: We have been together for over 30 years, and have been blessed with some of the greatest dogs of all times. Terriers are not for everyone, but they are for us. Our first lady, Siena Rozalyn Zoom, was half JRT and half Fox…

Terriers are not for everyone, but they are for us. Our first lady, Siena Rozalyn Zoom, was half JRT and half Fox Terrier. And all ball-obsessed. Sometimes she would come to work with me at Sonoma State University, and the students would take her out to play.

Moving to Costa Rica?!?!

How Did We Get Here? Why are we here? What are we doing? I thought it would be a good idea to trace our journey as we make this huge, life-altering change. I can keep track of sites that have been helpful/useful, and those that weren't, perhaps. And, perhaps others…

2024 started out so well, but went downhill fast. This just tears it though: RIP President Carter, you beautiful, amazing man. Your fight to help almost eradicate guinea worm (a horrible thing I saw in Mali in the Peace Corps), to building homes, and all of the work to help people, is inspiring.

Just a tiny voice in the dark here, but, I still believe in most of us. I think we can do this. I think The Stupid cannot last. Good night, All, and here's to a happier tomorrow. At least, the terrier snuggled down next to me believes…

If the government shuts down Saturday, the richest man in the world will be largely to blame.

You may not get access to services you depend on just before the holidays because an unelected billionaire shadow president wanted it that way.

If this isn’t oligarchy, I don’t know what is.

History matters. Philosophy matters. Languages and literature matter. Indigenous studies matter. Arts and humanities and social sciences matter. All of them.

We've been contemplating moving from the USA to Costa Rica for some time, to enjoy our retirement, dive, hike, explore, etc. And, you know, avoid the coming shitstorm here. This week we've moved to the "seriously researching" phase. Any advice?

What was that?!? A line of dots crossing the sky over California at about 38.5 degrees latitude just a couple of minutes ago. I couldn't get the camera going again.

Dropped off of Twitter when it was compromised. Have maybe found a new place to see fun things. This is Gus-Gus, a noble terrier rescued from streets in Mexico, sitting at the campfire on one of our explorations.
