The traditional line is that the Department of Justice represents the people of the United States and not the president but of course they’ve spun it completely backwards
No attorney general should ever speak like this. She's Trump's advocate, not the people's lawyer, which is what the AG's job is. Whatever state she is barred in should start disciplinary proceedings immediately. This isn't subtle or arguable, it's wrong.

Trump’s “renaming” of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America wasn’t b/c he really wants named after the US. This is a demonstration of power. Of “I will do this thing and you won’t stop me.” An easy, low-risk way to gauge extent to which his supporters will back any outlandish thing he does.
