Small-town murder mystery about a brooding film noir type who monologues about "their town" like they want to have sex with it, as one does, but instead of wanting to fuck the idea of Los Angeles or whatever they're horny and repressed for the concept of a village with a population of 3000 people.

Trials of Autism #137: is this person REALLY being inconsistent, or did I mentally add extra stipulations to something they said because I found it annoyingly imprecise, decide that's what they "must have meant", then forget that those qualifiers weren't present in what they actually said?

I feel dividing music listenership into "people who exclusively listen to streaming services" and "people who exclusively listen to physical media" is overlooking the important transitional category of "people who exclusively listen to shitty overcompressed MP3s they pirated on LimeWire in 2002".

Sometimes you've got to accept that if you don't understand what people are talking about, the conversation isn't for you. Even if someone is kind enough to stop and educate you, you can't reasonably expect to have an opinion worth listening to about a topic you didn't know existed five minutes ago.

I have to confess "your browser's AI can be made to steal your banking info via prompt injection because it runs with full privileges and treats all text as equally authoritative sources of instructions, including the text of pages it's summarising" is more surprising to me than it should have been.

Come on. Cold open your mid-budget indie RPG with ninety minutes of unskippable slice-of-life bullshit where you can't even save your progress because there's some diegetic reason why save points don't exist until after the inciting crisis hits. You know you want to.

People always talk about how weird it is to see random hornyposting from someone you know for Being Famous, but for my money it's much more jarring the other way 'round. You see somebody's name all up in lights and your primary frame of reference is having seen their penis on Bluesky.

Everyone with payment errors on the "Eat God" Kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com/projects/pen...) has now been dropped, so if you wanted to try again as a late pledge (or you missed it the first time and want to sneak in), now's the time. Late pledges for all physical rewards will close in ONE WEEK.

Labelling fictional settings "[kink] friendly" or "[kink] centric" is easily parsed, but I've also seen folks label their original settings as "[kink] compatible", which I feel just raises more questions. "Vore compatible" buddy, I'd be fascinated to know how you'd make a setting vore INcompatible.

I call my Site Director and ask, while it's very dramatic how we always close the innermost blast doors first and work outward, thus allowing escaping subjects to slip through each one just as it slams shut, wouldn't it be more effective to close the outermost ones first? I am immediately [REDACTED]

I admit a soft spot for alt-history fiction that's clearly a pretext to insert the author's kink into otherwise purely historical fic. Yes, I WOULD like to read a story about the 1944 liberation of Paris where the protagonist joins a tank crew and has their orientation provided by a busty slimegirl.

Going through an artist's gallery for the first time playing the "exactly how clearly visible does the boner need to be before they feel the need to apply the 18+ tag" game.

Hold on, you did the "repeating letters to draw out a word for emphasis" thing and I need to count them to check whether there are exactly eight. Why? Oh, no reason.

Carefully making sure I'm not logged into my employer-provided Workspace account before loading Patreon, because some artists distribute exclusives via Google Drive, and there are some things that would be very awkward to have pop up on your "Shared With You" pane in the middle of a Teams meeting.

Some interesting questions have come in the course of playtesting Eat God lately.

Sometimes I see a piece of media doing the "bilingual character mostly speaks English but peppers in random slang in their first language" thing and think, okay, there's no way THAT'S a legit term of endearment, but then I remember French people call each other cabbages, so what the fuck do I know?

The real reason you need to study geometry in school is because I've seen way too many artists trying to draw robot characters who clearly have no idea what shape the robot actually is under the greeble.

I've gotten shit in the past for speculating that local business might be tax schemes or money-laundering fronts, or whatever, but... look. The video arcade in the local shopping mall has reopened after a decade-long hiatus, and it's *nothing but claw machines*. [1/2]

The fun thing about enumerating versions of D&D to figure out what edition we're "really" on is there's no end to potential fuckery. Holmes Basic, Moldvay Basic, and Mentzer Basic are distinct versions of the game, but AD&D 2nd Edition isn't. Do I actually believe that? You can't prove that I don't!

Setting up a fake safeword which my partner is allowed to disregard for the sake of the bit and also a separate really-for-real safeword, then forgetting mid-scene which is which.

I'm not a proper D&D hater because I prefer to analyse the game's dysfunctional culture of play as a product of economic incentives rather than a product of the text. A TRUE hater must be prepared to blame anything and everything on the text of the rules, up to and including their parents' divorce.

Sometimes you'll see an indie tabletop RPG that's like, okay, wonderfully imaginative premise, and there's some genuinely innovative stuff going on here rules-wise, but you can REALLY tell it's never been in the hands of a playtest group whose GM wasn't also the game's author.

Artists deciding that OCs they're bored with are dead is conceptually funny by itself, but it gets upgraded to hilarious when they start offering that as an explanation for why they don't draw them anymore. Like, what do you mean they "died offscreen" in the narrative that exists only in your head?
