Like sure, the weapons in FF7 are hard but they seem to exist outside of the game so I never bothered.

What stands out in my mind though is the game allowing you to take a reckless approach. A “Here’s the smart way to proceed….but if you wanted to…” sort of approach to the fight. And it’s part of a main quest line so it wasn’t just a fight that existed separate from the events of the game.

I’m sure today with power creep it’s much easier but when I did it you had to have a good plan from the beginning because you’d get overwhelmed incredibly quickly, it wasn’t enough to have 5 tanks, I remember having to kill the Tarutaru immediately and then the Mithra or you’d be nuked or charmed.

As part of the Rise of the Zilart expansion quest you were sent to defeat 5 separate Ark Angels, representations of the flaws of each race IIRC. These fights were all tuned for a party of 6 level 75 characters. But if you wanted to you could fight all 5 at once with a group of 18.
