3a. (Optional) provide context without exculpating : X was happening, but I still should have done Z; X is no excuse for Z

You can ignore those chucklefucks. They’re too busy infighting to ever accomplish much.

Oh, John Vaillant’s The Tiger, of course! Ecological revenge thriller about a Tiger. 1990s counts as history now.

Like the future, the fascism is not evenly distributed.

Bastards sure are taking a run at it though.

Further to your point (and the Rabbi’s) there are DEFINITELY backpedaling shitlibs whose appeasement “tactics” grind my gears. Newsom. Gladwell. I just don’t think Pete is in that camp at all, as convenient as it would be for the commentariat to make a gay man That Guy

Mostly I’m concerned with making sure my child is safe. What does “this country” mean to you? Is it Quinnipiac stats or is it the neighbor who needs your generator? Do you know what to do when the lights go out? Be a trans Jew in rural Idaho for a single winter, then let’s talk.
November 17, 2025 at 7:13 PM
@schmaniel.bsky.social here’s your chance to white knight a trans person in need. Open your heart and your wallet, bro.
November 17, 2025 at 6:45 PM
We don’t need to be lectured about your imagined version of our lived experience, cishet white dude. Try actually listening to the people you claim to advocate for. Honestly people like you are a bigger pain in the ass than the little Baptist lady next door who’s just never met a trans person.

We’ve read both interviews. As a family who is impacted by this conversation, and who has lived in both the reddest and bluest regions during kid’s transition: what’s the issue? Many questioners are not in good faith, and they’re easy to spot. Most people are educable, however. Ask away!

Anyone can play piano if they play slowly enough
November 17, 2025 at 5:06 AM
This was neither my takeaway, nor the message my adolescent trans
child received. While it’s true my kid is more of a debate nerd than an athlete and our perspective might be different if they were, say, in football: consider taking a seat. 🪑

Thank goodness there’s a cishet white guy here to tell us all what queer people really mean!
November 17, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Again, my takeaway from the dude has always been “these are everyone issues” Not centering white cishet people but rather calling them in. You’re free to disagree. Tho it seems painting Pete as “throwing trans folk under the bus” is a fine way to calve off potential left flank voters. Who benefits?
November 16, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Are you reacting to what he said, or to the headline framing?

My takeaway from Pete, every time, is that QUEER ISSUES (housing security, civil rights, healthcare) are EVERYONE ISSUES. He isn’t sweeping his fam under the rug.

Whether you agree or not, consider who this headline framing benefits?
