Anyway, I got a weekend off after a couple of 12-day hitches. When people talk about how government doesn’t work, I’d like to have them come to fire camp.

At one point we had 1900 people at camp for the Green Fire. The logistical challenge of organizing and running these camps - as well as fighting the fire - is immense. But it gets done on the ground, in the air and on the water.

Ozzy made headlines, sometimes for the wrong reasons. But Sabbath was groundbreaking, and you can’t listen to tracks from Blizzard of Ozz, or hear ‘No More Tears,’ or any number of songs in his career and not feel the weight of one of the godfathers of metal. RIP Ozzy. Horns up.

So far, the Sierras are clear. You’re good to go, but keep an eye on the possibility of storms. Lightning strikes really threw us for a loop this week. Any lightning event down there could change conditions in a hurry.
