Apropos this thread: I had to assert my Miranda rights three times. The third time they were trying to get me to sign a written waiver. I am sure they were planning to claim I did not phrase my assertion directly enough.

You may not be aware that over the last 50 years, the Supreme Court has chipped away at your Miranda rights case by case, rendering them weak and ineffective. You no longer have the right to remain silent, to an attorney, not with the foece you used to. Time for a history lesson. /🧵

When I was in prison, we all knew The Shawshank Redemption so well that we referenced and quoted it at each other semi-regularly. Shawshank, Cool Hand Luke and Life.
Because of Life, specifically, I have been asked if I am going to eat my corn bread in a dumb voice at least a thousand times.
