I do this all the time - like, once a week minimum. It's a good way to help both you and your friends feel great, since love and appreciation are a couple of the few things you can give away and have more of as a result.
Tell people you love them when you feel it, let them know they're appreciated when they do things for you.
Don't take for granted that people just know, that stuff is too important to go unsaid! It's so important to say it in plain and direct language.

Old drawing. Every time I see it I think I should’ve kept trying more complex backgrounds, but I got discouraged. Teachers never gave good feedback and the fandom was pretty gatekeepy. Being self-taught was lonely too, but I didn’t have much of a choice back then.

Listening to the first couple of songs I wrote compared to more recent ones and it’s really cool hearing the improvements I’ve made. I can still do better of course, but every new thing I compose and mix I get a little better.
