I actually find it interesting that he doesn't say "to write good sex scenes" or anything, just writing ABOUT sex, full stop...

In the article he also notes the character is not very communicative (apparently he says "ok" about 500 times over the course of the book).

Ooh, I need to delay the shipment. Thank you for the reminder!

I have read a lot of litfic that I enjoyed (although apparently only one that got a Booker—The Remains of the Day). But litfic authors talking about what they do is the worst genre.

One time in 1973, Thomas Pynchon wrote some characters having fun sex, but he lost the Pulitzer because his book was obscene, and everyone else learned a lesson.

The energy in Wodehouse! I have been in awe since the first time I read him at...fifteen? Sixteen?

My friend from up north calls them himbos. Nature decided to solve a lot of deer problems with speed and strength rather than intelligence.

If you're interested in doing a first book permafree thing, I know there are a lot of options, and Sarah Wallace offers a breakdown of downloads they got from each ad they ran if you look at their Instagram.

I have a lot of qualms about that as a strategy, but it has fans for a reason.

Leaf blowers! Is there anything more futile?

He really likes rainbow things, so I hope he will like this.

I like the result of the hand-tying except my fingers feel a little bruised from grabbing needles.

I had never hand-tied a quilt. Don't know if I like it (it was less fast than just stitching straight lines would have been), but I think the finished quilt is softer.

I know! I think the idea is you should go to a bar if you want a drink after 9. Those are definitely open until like 2am.
