So are journalist finally going to call this for what it is - ethnic cleansing.

Or are they still going to do everything in their power to minimize what is happening.

I can't even imagine the trauma that this whole family is going through.

Deporting kids for petty arguments with their siblings is cruel & evil / has absolutely nothing to do with public safety.

Literally f everyone who is standing by allowing this to happen.

But hey atleast Mayor Bowser is going to get her damn football field.
D.C. homelessness nonprofits are scrambling after five months without payments from DHS. Programs and shelters for homeless kids are in jeopardy—one nonprofit leader even took out a personal loan to pay staff.

People are straight up going to die because of these policies. But hey at least the Dems are writing strongly worded threads & having lunch meetings about it.

Stop with the business as usual bs. And start fighting back.
If Trump doesn’t rescind it, Congress must act.

The key point here is "we will not obey." We need more of that from state officials. We need refusal from everyone who the administration will rely upon to work its will in the world, from governors to teachers, social workers, doctors, and other everyday people in the streets. Refusal is essential.
JB Pritzker flat out says the birthright "order" is unconstitutional and "we will not obey an unconstitutional order," attacks Trump for having the oligarchs in the front row.

See, @schumer.senate.gov? It's not that hard!

Thinking of all the Black & Brown people across the country suffering in jail on ABPO & Resisting Arrest charges for the littlest of things (often reacting to over aggressive policing)

Meanwhile these folks literally storm the Capitol & trample over cops and are all getting out.
NEW: With a stroke of his pen, Donald Trump laid waste to the four-year effort to punish the peopel who stormed the Capitol in his name on Jan. 6, 2021.

Among the 1,500 pardoned: People convicted of brutal assaults on police and seditious conspiracy.

It pisses me the f*ck off that some of the same people who said Trump would destroy democracy sat in the rotunda smiling while he took the oath. What message does that send? I get norms and traditions, but this isn’t the time. Nothing about this is normal, and it shouldn’t be honored with tradition.

This law, like many racist and xenophobic laws before it, will be judged harshly 20 years from now.

Unfortunately by that time - millions of lives will be destroyed and ruined.
The Senate has voted 64-35 to pass the Laken Riley Act, which will enable Trump’s ICE to put migrants in detention without due process & empower states to block visa programs & federal immigration policy.

12 Democrats voted with Republicans.

So according to the ADL: college kids calling for a ceasefire of a genocide are antisemitic...but a billionaire doing a full on Nazi salute should be given grace.

Yeah, this should tell you all you need to know.
This is somehow much worse than what I expected

If you want to contribute or volunteer, please give to local mutual aid groups. Those are the people/groups that are on the ground, know the community, and will be there long after the media attention moves on.

Not only will this legislation lead to unconscionable harm to families and communities... it also will do nothing to improve public safety and is way more expensive than idk ensuring people's basic needs are met (which actually would improve public safety).
Urgent: Contact your Senators & urge them to reject the Laken Riley Act now! The Senate is likely to vote on a later this week. The Act would allow states to dictate immigration policy from the hyperlocal level to the intl stage ➡️https://immigrationjustice.quorum.us/campaign/reject-laken-riley-act/

Hundreds of incarcerated people risk their lives every year to protect their community from deadly wildfires.

Instead of thanking them, they continue to be locked up and even those who are released aren't ever given a real chance to be fully free. #CaliforniaWildFires
As wildfires blaze in California, we're reminded of the incarcerated people who are deployed to fight them – an extremely dangerous job that pays just dollars per day.
