I think, though, that a big reason is that there’s really a certain percentage of people who really like reading books. For a lot of those people, the physicality of owning books is important. (Me included.)

As for reasons why, i remember there was a debate about how publishers would not allow ebooks to be priced lower than a point, at least in part because they wanted to limit Amazon.

I can’t find any single reliable source of global sales data, but I vaguely remember a ballpark figure being 70-30 in favour of paper books.

That’s a significant chunk for ebooks, so they kind of took off, but also nowhere near what people expected would happen at one point?
