Did you watch The Hack? I can't believe papers have gotten away with destroying lives for so long. That's why I've signed the petition, set up by Hugh Grant and other phone hacking victims, to demand fair, independent regulation. Join me: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/a-...
A Free Press, Not a Free Pass – It's Time for Fair Regulation
For too long, the UK press have bullied people, harassed grieving families, and destroyed lives, all to sell papers. We’ve all seen the heartbreaking consequences. They’ve hacked phones, listened to ...

The thing about all these pieces complaining about Marine Le Pen's conviction is that not a single one of them bothers to explain why someone found guilty of embezzling millions of Euros from public funds should be allowed to get away with it

Every week I see trials for alleged offences from 2021 being adjourned to 2027 because we don’t have enough courts, judges or barristers to give people justice any quicker.

Meanwhile politicians are losing their minds over a Guideline which - whatever the merits - will change nothing in practice.

In defending Rishi Sunak's non-disclosure of his financial interests, in appointing a Covid Corruption Commissioner in name only, and in arguing against the public interest in transparency, the Cabinet Office is a leopard which hasn't changed its spots. And you really ought to ask, 'why?'

Mone and Barrowman lied. They told an enormous fib - that they didn't own PPE Medpro - and then sent lawyers to threaten journalists who were exposing the fib.

I've no idea why they think anyone will believe this new statement.

It's also, I believe, flat wrong if not dishonest. I can't find any case which "reached" (his word) the Supreme Court. The case he is describing was refused permission by the Supreme Court. And not because it had "no logical basis" but "because there is no arguable point of law."
*Absolutely disgraceful* from Starmer, to write using this inflammatory language, about an identifiable individual.

Wildly irresponsible - reminiscent of the worst excesses of the Johnson era when Cummings fed the papers thinly disguised attack lines and I got real death threats.

Possible. Certainly I believe the Charity Commission has become the faithful servant of the right, culture warrior, wing of the Tories: see also its protection of Truss supporting lobby groups and climate deniers. And Camila thought this was a hit job on Cameron about Brexit, which also lines up...
Why is it stubbornly defending its flawed report?

For the same reason it gave charity status to LGB Alliance and Sex Matters: it hates anyone that doesn’t fit its normative, establishment view of what it thinks society should look like.
