im over halfway through act 2 of silksong and some of the choices in this game are baffling. did you know that to get one of your nail upgrades, you have to run an item across the map without it breaking like the delicate flower? through several very hard zones with annoying enemies?

there isnt a game more deserving of this level of acclaim in the entire world. this is one of, if not THE best pieces of science fiction ive ever experienced, and everyone owes it to themselves to give it a play.
im glad they included a long-winded monologue from abby in the new episode of last of us so that she can explain her character to me rather than letting me figure it out for myself. big props to craig mazin and neil druckmann for helping out all the stupid people like me ❤️

i HATE beginnings. like, ive gone through three or four for my current project and i cant find anything that works. i may be putting too much pressure on myself -- im trying to make the opening reflect the themes of the book when the book is not yet written -- but my brain also isnt able to move on!

finally writing again, thank GOD. i've had to unlearn my habit of writing chapters in sequence so that i could finally get around the roadblock that is my unending hatred for writing beginnings. very excited about what im working on, it's been a long-time project of mine and i want to get it done!!

im constantly resisting the urge to make posts about how cool and awesome final fantasy 14: shadowbringers is. i need someone to talk with about it. alternatively, maybe when i finally publish a book, you'll open it up and find out it's just a 400 page essay about shadowbringers. you're welcome.

99% sure new severance intro uses AI for a particular sequence. not a huge surprise, i dont think. last i checked, the guy who makes them is into crypto and NFTs. it just makes the whole thing look corny. apple TV budget but they still use AI. such a disappointment.

im so fucking sad to see the news about David Lynch. he was so inspirational to many other artists whose work ive fallen in love with, and i feel like ive only just begun to delve into his work and understand why right as he passes. the creative world has suffered a monumental loss.

ive been conceptualizing a world where fashion is magic for a while but it's proving to be one of the more difficult magic systems ive ever tried to make. it probably doesn't help that despite my love for cool and dazzling clothing, i am eminently unfashionable myself.

before i DNF'd the second dreadnought book, i thought that april daniels seemed like a bit of an annoying liberal bc the book had an "anarchist" character, and the text clearly didnt understand what anarchism is. and then it turns out she's annoying too!! bohkay!!! bullet dodged

i need more FFXIV friends, i never really made that many in the community and everyone seems so cool. my FC is also kind of dead, so that doesn't help. but im not really certain how to find people i vibe with in the community, i mostly play the game as a singleplayer game first, so.

to me, Alan Wake 2 and 1000xRESIST are two of the only games ive ever played that felt well and truly cinematic to me. like they speak the same language as the films i love. i think lots of games tout being cinematic nowadays but rarely capture the beauty of film
