i mean wait what, second season? what am i talking about, no such thing exists

unironically i think you can skip season 2 and only watch season 1 of arcane and have a perfectly enjoyable experience. even though it ends on a cliffhanger, i think it's a thematic full circle (admittedly a bit of a dour one) or at least comes close enough that it can stand on its own.

i think it's better than hollow knight (which is a game i think had a lot of flaws too) but it's only by a very thin margin. this is a deeply frustrating game to play at times, a feeling i never had with its predecessor.

the world is beautiful, im deeply intrigued by the story and what's going on, im having a lot of fun learning about pharloom as a kingdom. the bosses are almost all perfectly tuned, but then all the basic-level grunts are absolute menaces, and everything deals two masks worth of damage. EVERYTHING.

i think in some respects the difficulty is mitigated by hornet's versatility. but this is a RIDICULOUSLY difficult game that doesnt give you the tools to properly combat its difficulty until well over halfway into its runtime. and it sucks because i love SO MUCH about the game

been so excited for it after that beautifully made trailer for the PC gaming show last year. i am terrible at rhythm games but i will make an exception for Peak

i feel very much like im missing out on the show that everyone else saw, which sucks because i really like alien and wanted this show to be good on account of really liking noah hawley as a showrunner. maybe i just need to give it a rewatch with a different mindset

as someone who has never held a cigarette before, i really believed you were smoking that 1000xRESIST pack. excellent work natalie

god i wish SO BADLY that i could get my hands on them. or, like, talk to tony gilroy myself. i need to see how that man's brain works so i can employ all his techniques in my own stuff. he should do writing lectures like brandon sanderson except instead of being a mormon he's just a really cool guy

so... what you're saying is that i need more girlfailure content in my life. noting this down and nodding my head sagely.

issue #0.5, "The Nearness of You", is my favorite single-issue story ive ever read. Busiek knows how to write a damn good comic
July 8, 2025 at 7:55 AM
have you read Astro City? it's an anthology series by Kurt Busiek. it's all the strength of Marvels but in his own universe. it's in a very nice goldilocks zone of having a good amount of content without too much, and a interesting setting that doesn't demand knowledge of itself to engage with it.

it's like genuinely remarkable that every episode has a line or two that makes me go "ohhhh that's GOOD writing right there." i feel like tony gilroy should have a blank check to make whatever he wants. just rewatched 1x7 last night and "that's just love, nothing you can do about that" is a gutpunch

this is not dramatic in the slightest, the sheer confusion from every creative choice for TLOU2 basically did make me violently ill. with irritation. like 100% should've been a home run of a season, idk how they fucked it up so badly
June 29, 2025 at 5:32 PM
im really grateful that they aired concurrently for a little while so that whenever TLOU S2 sucked really bad one week (or really every week), id have Andor 2-3 days later to remind me that actually TV can still be well written. thank you tony gilroy

HOLY SHIT congratulations, that's so amazing!!! im beyond excited to see what you do at sunset visitor

was chernobyl like this and im misremembering it being fantastic or is mazin one of those one-hit wonder type screenwriters

i actually full on witch-cackled during the torture scene because i turned to my partner and said "theyre gonna have someone say how fucked up and awful the torture is so we understand" and then the show did exactly that.
