Surprised the NYT bio doesn't note Isgur's most notable accomplishment, which is serving as lead propagandist for Trump I's child separation policy.
even if look past the errors of fact and poor reasoning throughout this piece, you are still left with a massive normative claim that isgur doesn’t even bother to support, which is that the purpose of the executive branch is to execute the president’s will and priorities.

It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.

This is critical because liberals have coasted on this exact excuse for not going big on anything. There is no reality where Democrats just win everything for a decade straight. "Just vote until we get 60 senators and two Supreme Court Justices die at the right time" is not a plan and never was.
I don't think it really has much to do with what Ds do; you can't win every election.

the key is whether Ds are willing to crush fascism while in power, so that when Rs win they're no longer a fascist party.
I fear, though, that without substantial changes in how the Democrats approach politics we’re going to just keep pinging back and forth between the parties as incumbent after incumbent gets tossed in response to unrelieved and unaddressed suffering in the general public

this is what @gelliottmorris.com has been arguing... there was no realignment in 2024, just an anti incumbent wave across all demographics, which has now reversed.

One thing about the Biden admin. is that, two or three levels down, there were tons of smart, focused, pro-social people doing great things that never rose to the level of a headline.

Conversely, an enormous amount of the damage Trumpies are doing never makes the news.
