Really pleased with how our @github.com gameoff jam entry came out! I contributed programming, sound design and audio implementation. I programmed the menus and a couple of dynamic audio systems. You can play it here: pnaser74.itch.io/song-of-decay !

Noisevember Day 30 - Finale

I went with a fanfare as it felt appropriate. This was so much fun and I learned a lot over the course of the month!

Noisevember Day 29 - Q
"Bouncy" patch on @kilohearts.com phaseplant. It’s just a sawtooth wave and a sample of a jawharp each with a modulated filter with a high “Q” setting. The upper register sounds like character dialogue in the style of animal crossing.

Noisevember Day 28 - ?!

This instantly made me think of the iconic alert sound from metal gear, so I decided to try to recreate it, which turned out to be way tougher than I thought. including the original for comparison.

Noisevember Day 27 - Stinger

I guess really only the second half of this is the stinger, but liked both chords too much to choose

Noisevember Day 24 - Skeumorphic

Tricky one today. Made a digital meditation bell from a recording of the bowl from a stand mixer, with a sine wave doubling upper overtones.

Noisevember Day 23 - Wildlife

Recently got phase plant so thought I’d try designing a tiger sound from some noise generators. Might sound a little more like a thunderstorm, but oh well 😅 So much you can do with the modulators!

Noisevember Day 22 - Silky

Not sure how silky this is, but this track is what I came up with after trying to design a "silky" patch. All (3) tracks come from chipsynth 64 and in the video you can see how you can switch between frames to create a fun bassline

Noisevember Day 21 - Dissolve

I’ve named my friend’s dialogue character “lil guy.” Poor lil guy got dropped into a vat of acid!

Note: no actual lil guys were harmed in the making of this sound

Noisevember Day 20 - Deja Vu

Went for a full on dream sequence this time (because seeing deja vu as a prompt again gave me semi-actual deja vu!)
Still digging into what chipsynth 64 can do with transposition and wave shape automation inside the plug in.

Noisevember Day 19 - Plant Based

Had fun recording myself crushing a jalapeno, kale and grapes, but wanted to avoid the obvious gore, so I turned the sounds into a futuristic computer like one in Chrono Trigger’s future. Included unprocessed sound for fun/comparison

Noisevember Day 18 - Hairy

This was a tricky one for me! I interpreted hair to be noise (sort of the sound hair makes when it moves?) I also had an instructor in college who called dissonant chords “hairy”, so I threw in some dissonance at the end.

Noisevember Day 17 - Stutter

Made a patch on infinite flow that was sort of bouncy using flutter and delay, but the “stutter” wasn't random, so I sent it to soundtoys’ tremolator and drew in some random rhythms and faded out the initial patch

My friend sent me a great recording of him playing with his dog. Turned her into a monster. Mostly used Dehumaniser but also had fun automating some ring mod sends to give individual growls more personality. I love creature design but there’s so much to learn!

Noiseveber Day 15 - Opposite

Simple triangle wave from chipsynth 64 (commodore 64 SID emulation) into a couple delays (one being Soundtoys’ crystallizer with reverse mode, of course lol)

Noisevember Day 11 - Looming

Played around with a pretty deep plugin that I haven’t used much (Chipsynth C64 by plogue). Will keep tweaking this preset but I learned a lot! The lower register has some fun digital distortion and is more sound design-y while the higher register is more musical

Noisevember Day 10 - Deja Vu

I had fun playing with dialogue yesterday, so I included another clip my friend recorded for me. Deja Vu always feels like something weird is going on with time so I tried to give an impression of time slowing and returning to normal.

Noisevember Day 9 - Tiny

Didn’t have much time today so this one is short, but I imagined a tiny fighter character and thought it was funny. used some dialogue my friend recorded for me a couple years ago

Noisevember Day 8 - Organ

just a couple B3 instances, a cluster and a single note with a different preset. I’m practicing using a midi controller to control the drawbars

Noisevember Day 7 - Glow

Had fun designing a patch in Infinite Flow again. glow made me think of a slow attack and bright harmonies
November 8, 2024 at 12:34 AM
Noisevember Day 6 - Pressure

Used mostly Silen Audio Infinite Flow synth for this. Fun because there are so many oscillator choices. Also included the sound of a can being crushed. Tried to make it feel like the pressure is rising

Noisevember Day 5: Resonant

I’ve been enjoying recording source material for the sounds i’m sharing. I made this audio logo-ish sound from things recorded around the house (a large coin, a mixing bowl and the sound of tapping on a small harp's soundboard)

Noisevember Day 4 - instrumental

First A section of one of my favorite #quincyjones instrumentals, Jessica's Day. Found a transcription of the arrangement for Dizzy's big band and played the sax section parts on a felt piano

Noisevember Day 3 - sandwich

Don’t have a lot of experience using sampling instruments so had fun turning the sound of my partner biting some toasted bread into this playable sound using arturia’s CMI V recreation

Noisevember Day2: Bubbly

super short reimagining of a pokemon attack, using some bubbles recorded this evening and a bunch of things that aren’t bubbles (mouth pops and a nut shell shaker)
