Excerpt from Philadelphia Inquirer article, Nov. 10, 1940, “How Men Over Forty Charm”: For top flight male charm which includes practically all of the desirable attributes, Ida picks President Roosevelt. "I admire him for his deep understanding, his tolerance, his great sense of humor." she explains. "He gives you a feeling of integrity, reliability, wisdom. Since exploring interesting minds is my special delight. I'd like to have a real talk with him. I'd like to know him well enough to go on a fishing trip with his party where everything would be informal and removed from politics." Points of Admiration JEROME KERN is among the men past forty admired by Ida. She describes him as a person easily overlooked at first glance who nevertheless dominates any company he may be in. Sympathy, understanding, kindness are the qualities she finds in his appeal. She puts James Hilton, the novelist, in the charm category for simplicity and sincerity. For my first post of #Noirvember, I'm going with an all-time favorite, 1942's "Moontide." Ida Lupino is a great 'everygirl' who's down on her luck, but finds love & trouble when she's rescued by a man with a dark past.

A damn-near perfect romantic mystery. Trailer in comments.
