When a kid that's neurodivergent and touch-sensitive suddenly hugs you, that's worth more than all of the money in the world.

Dear cold weather:

I love you, but you are wrecking my blood sugars and bones.

Doing an infusion set change during my planning period at work is wild. 0/10, do not recommend.

“Even when I was an assistant professor, I would say things like, ‘I’m a researcher.’ I wouldn’t say I’m a scientist.” Nobel Laureate Ardem Patapoutian made groundbreaking discoveries about the sense of touch. But he didn’t always have a sense of belonging in science.
Even Nobel Prize Winners Deal With Imposter Syndrome
Neuroscientist Ardem Patapoutian immigrated to the US, found belonging in science, and did groundbreaking work on sense of touch.

I went to the Frick on Saturday for the first time since it reopened. Flora Yukhnovich's Four Seasons installation stole the show, but I could stare at this portrait forever. It has captivated me since I was in sixth grade and it was in one of my textbooks.

This researcher is exploring both the biology of endometriosis and why it’s so difficult for people to get diagnosed. For her, it’s personal: She happens to have the condition.

Happy Cappuccino Day! ☕️ Let's appreciate the perfect blend of espresso, steamed milk, and foam that makes our hearts skip a beat... or helps us remember what day it is.

Annddd Smart Guard is achieved 🙌🏻😭🙌🏻😭

Also, first infusion set change by myself. Gah, how the muscle memory returned after *20* years since the last one.

Off to school to teach my hormonally handicapped kiddos.

Only my fellow type 1s know what it took to achieve even 75% time in range when dealing with an ER visit for a family member where you're the person who handles everything.

I'm exhausted, but everyone is home and stabilized.

Just, so thankful for my insulin pump.

It always surprises me, how a crisis can either cement some bonds, or disintegrate others.

Woke up with a perfect blood sugar after my new pump suspended my basal for 4 hours because I drop *low* during the "dawn phenomenon".

Trying not to cry happy tears.

Meet the flat-headed cat. This species is at home in water & can often be spotted on river banks. It feeds on crustaceans, frogs, & fish. Sharp molars help it grip slippery prey & partially webbed feet help it navigate its environment.

Even if my district did not have an anti-bullying policy, I have a ZERO tolerance policy in my classroom.

One of my students came to me just now about a situation, and I am both horrified and livid.

Not today. Not any day.
