I directed a feature once and continue fighting to do it again.
My favorite Criterions are old, out of print DVD Criterions.

Pretty solid week of old LA movies, the struggle between the old and new, and high-octane pop songs about depression. It’s been a journey.

And of course, I have plenty of pics with zombies. After DST got the Walking Dead license, I couldn’t stop building my army of the undead. Those guys come in handy all the time. Clearly a top minimate brand if there ever was one.

A real grab bag of Halloween treats this week and it’s not even everything. I also showed the kid Frankenweenie (bleh) and didn’t show her Scream (5).

Not a bad way to end spooky season. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

I’ve even recreated some shots from classic horror movies including two from Silence of the Lambs featuring officially licensed figures.

My favorite thing about minimates, btw, was their penchant for obscure movie properties. Before funko, they were the only ones giving us the goods.

I tried my hand at a few scary movie poster recreations a few times. Here’s Barbarian and Smile.

Both of those, btw, ought to be in everyone’s Halloween list. Smile seems so dumb, but is one of the scariest franchises out there while Barbarian is pure goofy tension.

And a couple more, this time featuring The Monster, his Bride, and a Creature.

You know, the fun thing about shooting in Black and White is the wholesale cheating you can do with the props and scenery. Like that water is just a sheet of aluminum foil.

In anticipation of Halloween, what better way to celebrate than indulging in some seasonal appropriate minimate (RIP DST) pics.

Here’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Dracula himself in their B/W glory.

Eating good this week, cutting my traditional spooky diet with a couple of timeless classics, a timely musical, and a movie about time (but not About Time).

I know everyone is (rightfully) focused on the No Kings protest, but I also want to show off the wild spread of DVDs I picked up today at Vidiots’ International Video Store Day Sale.

Two movies we don’t talk about enough, one we probably talk about too much, and one that’s on its way to being forgotten. Fun stuff!

Red Flags like:
- I didn't remember applying for this job
- Setting up an interview the day I got the email.
- An interview via Teams
- An email from consultant . com

But in the haze of excitement, I pressed on and prepped for the interview

A little bit of everything this week; from trash to classics.

The sleeper, of course, Is Gabby, a bold, magical series finale with an incredible Kristen Wiig performance.

Even more so if I knew what to do next. #boardgamesky

A couple of classics, a cool (but dull) vampire flick, and one of the best films of 2025. Yeah, it’s been a good week.

A really fun week of new horror, a couple of fun cult flicks, and one of my all-time favorites. I recommend all of them!

Post a movie poster that goes so hard the movie could never, ever live up to it

Pretty cool that @lafd.bsky.social has had three massive helicopters patrolling my mid-city neighborhood for the past half hour. I'm sure all those fires are running for their lives right now.

And by pretty cool, I mean fucking annoying.

I just discovered (and read) THE NEW ADVENTURES OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN wherein Ol’ Abe returns to the present (1998) and attempts to Make America Great Again through demagoguery, secret police, and Tony American flags. Fun and depressingly prescient @scottmccloud.bsky.social.
