This whole going after green card holders thing is absolutely trying to soften going after naturalized citizens. They want a White America. That means pushing Black & brown people out of all high ranking positions & getting rid of immigrants who make up American diversity.

So our Brexit moment is here. Incalculable self-harm. Paired with isolation. Providing no benefit. Precipitated by nothing. Justified by even less. All at the hands of an autocratic incompetent.
Good morning. It's now 12:01 AM. The largest US tariff hike in a century has officially gone into effect—25% on Mexican imports, 25% on Canadian imports (except energy at 10%), & now 20% on Chinese imports. Canadian retaliation on $21B in US exports has also just gone into effect

When will the RCT fad finally end in development economics?
Just seeing the RCT 'scandal' brewing among econs again. This is not a question about some bad apples or some instances of malpractice. The RCT industry has been completely distorted from its inception in Econ and this is closely tied to the incentive structure of the discipline.

Not sure @brankomilan.bsky.social is right about a Leninist IMF but his post reminds me of this quote from Joseph Pouemi about IMF officials from communist countries "Et voilà l’économiste-progressiste devenu plus libéral que les libéraux, mais moins avisé qu’eux."

NEW: Mere weeks after historic wildfires, the Los Angeles Times just offered buyouts to anyone who’s been at the company for longer than two years.

From the COO’s note to staff: “The economic landscape of the media industry continues to be extremely challenging.“
