I love the idea of all the goons superheroes fight actually being normal people brainwashed and supplied by one dude. Did they ever follow up on that? It feels like one of those ideas that has a ton of potential.
Kyle worries if Plastic Man will be alright, since he’s been kidnapped by the villains, but Booster Gold assures him that Plas can take care of himself. This is, as far as I can tell, the first time that Booster and Plas have ever actually interacted. Plas doesn’t break, even under torture. The Supplier reveals just exactly what he supplies; henchmen, for supervillains. Specifically, civilians he kidnaps and brainwashed into being soldiers that he sells to supervillain groups. This current batch are to be sold to another planet as disposable soldiers. It’s an insane revelation that really feels like it would change the entire course of how heroes fight casual villains. Especially since some of them are young enough to still be in high school!

This is it. The issue with the Dress scene. God I hate it. I hate every bit of it. It’s gross and it’s violating. It’s dispicible. Its horrible to Big Barda. It’s forever tainted Plastic Man as a character. It’s a PAGE FILLER JOKE more than anything. Fuck this.
When Batman sends the JLA to take down Bruce Wayne, Green Lantern asks why, comparing Wayne to Donald Trump and questions why Bruce would destroy his own hometown… you just gotta laugh. The truth about “Bruce Wayne” is revealed. The man in the story is actually one of my White Martians, who were all brainwashed at the beginning of the series think they were regular people. It’s a plot point Waid would revisit later on in his main JLA run. Plastic Man as a snake. This is actually one of the first pages of Plas I ever saw as a kid, due to it being in a kid’s JLA encyclopedia. The White Martian is tricked by Plastic Man into thinking he’s about to be fart-incinerated.

Plastic Man Special (1999)

Templeton packs so much into this book. Not just this hilarious story (a HEAVY pastiche on just about every lame art & story cliche you’d have seen in the 90’s), but the whole book, I love it a lot!
In the framing story, we see the typical day in the walls of a comic book store in the 90’s… I assume, with young teens and store workers all saying Plastic Man sucks because he’s not filled with pointless detail lines or absurdly hot chicks in spine-snapping poses or being replaced by a legacy character. What’s crazy is that this book came out about a month before the JLA issue with the “dress” scene, which gave a lot of people a GENUINE reason to hate him. After writer Ty Templeton is sufficiently beaten to a pulp by the kids, he imagines a world where Plastic Man is popular, and hip. It starts with Bane, cortex in silly tiny detail lines and absurd shading, attempting to break Plastic Man’s spine. Of course, no dice. I’ve seen this page being used as a way to powerscale Plastic Man, which I find hilarious. Even funnier, Bane’s co-creator, the nutso right-wing Chuck Dixon, once saw and reposted the page on his Twitter whining about how Bane would easily kill Plastic Man. Superman and Martian Manhunter watch as as all the C-Listers get blasted out of existence… of course, all the big guys “only” get to watch. ;) Ty Templeton predicts Doomsday Clock.

I had this same mindset when wanting to play Dispatch. I had three new games I could play, so I had to do at least one of those first before getting it.

I’ve ended up buying three other new games and not finished any of them.

To be fair: they were all heavily discounted
