I don’t think shared prosperity or ‘livable’ planet will come from data driven decisions. Humanity needs less logic, aka data driven decisions, and more empathy ✌️

Once we left in the morning, I and my dog had been wandering in the mountains, neither with purpose nor with schedule, but with food and a book, until sunset.

Although we achieved nothing, our minds have been wiped out by the gusts, and our souls elevated by the views.

I can’t believe how many creatives still call it ‘mine’. A huge thanks for writing this. Needs to be reposted on a regular basis 👏

In my latest newsletter, I made two typos in one sentence. Was I rushing ? At first I felt embarrassed, but after a minute or two a thought struck me.

F*you old voices, I’ll celebrate I’m a human !

One of my niche ethical stances is that I think that people should use Wikipedia and donate to the Wikimedia Foundation and that ChatGPT and its siblings are trash and so are the people who use them.

Recently I was in a forest and had a few thoughts about productivity. Disobey against cancer structures; be unproductive. It’s part of uprising that needs to happen. piowrites.com/blog/free-th...

It is the strangest feeling not to desire, but simply be.\nAs if nature that is permitted to live freely, gives it back; it encourages to be free.

I’d say that those in power have no authority anymore, though. We need to normalise taking away the authority if used against our collective interests.
The disappearance of America’s leadership class at a time like this means that the rest of us have to be leaders. We can no longer wait to be led by those with the power and authority to lead. You must lead, I must lead, all of us must lead. We are the leaders we’ve been waiting for.

A downside of self education is not knowing when you’ll reach your goal exactly. It’s the curiosity that guides as opposed to a clearly defined outcome: a diploma, a qualification.
Self teaching is, as I see it, foremost for me. The future “boss”, if smart, can benefit, but is not who I care about.

He distrusts common sense. “If everybody were driving electric cars, there would be more pollution than now,” he said.

He asked an AI if he should vaccinate his new born, because big farma and stuff. It impressively answered what he wanted to hear.

I read, in the office kitchen, the title of widely celebrated article, “From zero to hero,”about CEO of the company I worked for. He started as a software developer and became its CEO. “Is this what the management thinks of me?” I nibbled free nuts, the humble software developer.

I felt too old to rewrite my CV one more time. I wrote a story instead.

“I was molding, excluding, and forging its points with the hope the result would convince a person I’ve never met I’m a good fit for a role. But foremost I was dulled.”

PioWrites / I motivated myself writing a motivational letter.
I don’t know the role; I don’t know the person. Instead, I started to write a better list: what I've learned, what intrigued me, and what stayed with me. Maybe it’ll reveal what I should offer my time...

Not so long time ago, human intellect used to be at the centre of Renaissance movement. It used to be a virtue to learn and think critically.

“The concept of the Universal Man, inspired by Alberti, was born out of a desire to break free from the narrow confines of medieval dogma”

We need it again!

“I decided to take a Bolt to the scariest part of town, the Loja do Cidadão, and show my relatives what it's like to wait to talk to the IRS of Portugal.” Fate writes about her family’s summer adventures. They were intense, now they are blurred, but full of wit.

“My body is in shock, thus tense, it could slip and dunk without me noticing it’s happening. Dunk is how some like it. I like to observe the pain, to be mindful.”

How is to swim in a lake in Portuguese mountains?

Sometimes adventure means being mindful of a pain.
When sunny, the rising rocks above the water and their upside-down reflection have a hopeful mixture of shades of blues and greens, but when cloudy, a grave simplicity is the theme.

A few days ago I wrote for a while in this spot. Hardwood trees, old-ish forest that is not kept for the exploitation, creates those micro-environments. This is Southern Europe, Portugal folks ! Even in the heat of summer these places stay cool and green.

Why retaliate tariffs? A regular folk in the us won’t buy that tractor from a local maker because even with tariffs it could buy 4 tractors from abroad and still pay less. It’s a tax on citizens. A tax that diverts the attention. It’s magic.

I’m finding it problematic that always “American” refers to a US citizen. America is much bigger than the US. Mexicans aren’t Americans ? What about Columbians ? That’s colonisation in the language folks. 🫣
