Is it just me or is the media sharing wayyyyy too much info about the jurors.
We now have 6 jurors sworn in for Trump's NY criminal trial! That's a third of the way there (12 jurors + 6 alternates). We also have a foreperson. He has an Irish accent, lives in Harlem, likes to do outdoorsy things, and watches both Fox News *and* MSNBC. Pool description from yesterday:

We need to make this version of Back to the Future.
If Back to the Future was set today, Marty would go back to 1994. The kids in the past would be listening to Nirvana. Marty would amaze and confuse them with White Stripes and Radiohead songs, and intimidate his dad by pretending to be Neo from the Matrix. He'd be baffled by the lack of wifi. 😜

I know it’s dumb, but this Nakamura v Caruana chess game is genuinely exciting to me.

I represent the creature known to you as Gollum. Per the agreed-upon rules, you did not win the game of riddles, as “What have I got in my pocket?” is not a “riddle” under any common definition of that term. My client demands (i) to eat you, (ii) the return of his Precious, and (

To get geared up for next week’s candidates tournament I’m doing a lot of chess puzzles. And boy, I didn’t need this reminder that I SUCK.

There’s a big audience on Bluesky for viral posts that distort reporting or research in a simplistic, purportedly progressive way. But they don’t actually help anyone or serve a progressive agenda — they just make people feel helpless and angry.
This post is wrong twice: (1) The study finds that large grocery chains raised prices in sync with—but faster than—inflation caused by real supply chain issues, and (2) the study exists only because the government is *trying to prevent this from happening again* by blocking major grocery mergers.
Weird, you mean the 40-60% rise in food prices we've seen in the last 4 years wasn't based on reality or supply chain issues, but rather on pure corporate greed just like everyone already knew? Thank God the government is here to do absolutely Fuck All about it except confirm what we knew already!

I’ve had lots of cats. And they’ve all been awesome.

I have a current orange cat. I… I don’t think he’s too smart.

Cool is not as cool as it used to be.

I long for a cool where a dispassionate Dylan in an alley outside the Savoy Hotel idly flip through cards on which pieces of his lyrics are scrawled. Bored and sorta annoyed seeming and barely in sync. And at the end, Alan Ginsberg idles by for some reason.

The fact that this has to exist shows what a hellhole the web has become.

What’s left? Is Wikipedia the only good thing left?

Remember that DOJ sought expedited review of this issue from the Court last year (skipping the circuit courts). They refused and punted it to the DC Circuit, which took months; then dilly dallied all this time after the DC Circuit’s decision, before finally issuing a grant. It’s pretty transparent.
