A particularly agreegous example of poor control by last administration: Over estimating take up of Green bins after introducing charges. Budget is for 70% take up, while research showed 56% and the actual uptake is 55%. The take up shortfall leaving a £600k hole in the Conservative's budget

Year after year after year of undelivered savings, mismanagement of resources & contracts, division, cutting support for services that make money compounding the financial problems from massive underfunding by every government. Officers have been working extremely hard in challenging circumstances

Massive challenge. A thorough look at what is actually needed, not just the government's need. Getting the right homes & jobs in the right places. Leveraging CIL more effectively to provide the critical infrastructure diverse county needs. Taking proper note of feedback throughout will be important

But agree with you planning by numbers alone won't solve the housing crisis. It is more complicated than just supply issues. The system should address genuine need and have a better mix of tenure. Something Labour surprisingly and sadly don't understand by the look of it.

Tony, I agree Government's targets are wholly unrealistic & I can't see them delivering 1.5m homes in parliament. Where are tradesmen, etc, to actually build them, for a start? This is a call for sites. There is a lot more work to do to make the policy framework sound. Alt is uncontrolled dev

Previous allocated sites won't carry over due to the Government's updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and its stiff mandatory housing targets for Shropshire.
Local plan work set to start again for Shropshire Council as authority issues fresh call for development sites
Shropshire Council is set to start work on a new local plan, and is asking people to put forward potential development sites.

Clearly, the council is not where it wants to be. Withdrawing the draft plan from the current examination is a significant decision. With recent changes to the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework and their new mandatory housing targets, we would have needed to adjust the plan now anyway.
