I find it a bit hard to articulate the enormity of the direction the world is heading in. But even though it's set in the U.S. It would be naïve to believe that we wouldn't be affected and aren't already being affected by what happens there.

I think there are elements of this happening around the globe already due to climate breakdown and unstable geopolitics and a move to the right in many countries. I think of the Spanish olive trees dying in extreme heat, which will increase the price of olive oil, just as a single example.

I've just finished it. It raises some really pertinent questions able where we're heading.

Have you read "Educated" by Tara Westover?

It's a harrowing but ultimately uplifting and moving memoir.

It's also very ableist. There are ppl who can't necessarily get 10,000 steps (a pretty arbitrary №) and/or have the resources to go to the gym. Then there are ppl with sensory issues with food. It's BS one-size-fits-all fuckery.

The Treaty principles bill is normative; ie, it purports to say what ACT thinks the meaning of te Tiriti *should* be in their eyes, eg formal equality etc. However, leaves te Tiriti / the Treaty and its meaning intact, thereby creating constitutional incongruity.

Yeah, any mitigation that works is seen as an overreaction because things didn't go horribly and horrifically wrong.

Well said.

Same as masking, social distancing, et fucking cetera. The outcome of a successful mitigation is impossible to differentiate from an unneeded one.

Until it's too late.
