Feeling my sanity slipping away as more and more (genuinely awful) stories about what Trump said or did accrues. Because:

HE PLOTTED AND ATTEMPTED TO EXECUTE A VIOLENT COUP ON LIVE TV! HE ATTMEPTED TO END THE REPUBLIC! HE'S THE BIGGEST TRAITOR TO THE CONSITUTIONAL ORDER SINCE THE CONFEDERACY!

Personally I think the threshold for holding someone accountable for threats & incitement should be on a sliding scale where the more power and influence you have, the lower the threshold. Even lower if your fan base skews hateful & armed.

It’s maddening watching the sliding scale go the wrong way.
I really feel like the Secret Service and FBI should go have a little chat with him about that

Historically speaking, this is the *precise* kind of language that led to the lynching of Black men.

The GOP is not a political party competing in a democracy.

It is a gang, seeking unchallenged power.

They are in the moral sense at least if not in actual fact…criminals.
Very dangerous for democracy when questioning the legitimacy of elections becomes a partisan litmus test

Back in 2016, Ted Cruz alleged that a tabloid story about him was a product of Trumpworld working with the National Enquirer.

It was! Too bad he’s now so deep in Trumpworld himself that he can’t take a victory lap.
Analysis | Ted Cruz spotted the Trump-National Enquirer alliance in 2016
During Trump’s criminal trial, the former head of the tabloid described how he’d worked with Trump’s lawyer on stories — as Cruz alleged when he was a target.

This is why some asshole with a blog has been writing for nearly two decades that "nothing in movement conservatism makes sense except in the light of creationism."
(with apologies to Dobzhansky)

It's the same damn strategy.
I think about the Wedge Document every time I hear Trump talk about changing his stance on abortion, or Chris Rufo picking a new thing to be outraged about.

None of them believe what they're saying, and neither do their target audience. They all just want to WIN, by subverting, by lying, by ruse.

Some random guy: are you sure about that? I don’t think you understand the context of the song you wrote.

An obvious follow-up is whether he thinks pro-death penalty or harshly anti-immigrant Catholic pols are similarly picking items from the buffet.
Fascinating Easter discussion on Face the Nation (yes, actually) w/ Marianne Budde, Episcopal Bishop of Washington, and Wilton Cardinal Gregory, Archbishop of Wash (Catholic).

Gregory sounding admonitory toward Biden as "cafeteria Catholic." Budde making pts like JFK when running in 1960.

For my fellow Bluesky Massholes who love wonderful science. The Chandra X-Ray observatory has lots of life left, but is slated to be zeroed out. The local angle: it's run out of Cambridge, MA. Jobs & education right here!

So write/call Warren, Markey, & your Rep. Tell 'em to get on MA interests!

After Claudine Gay's resignation, Rufo learned that plagiarism was a smear that he could use to attack scholars of race, no matter how flimsy the evidence.

"Plagiarism is a brand now. It does not matter how fair or accurate the accusations. Most of Rufo’s readers will accept his claims at face value, since they feed a narrative they already believe in"

The playbook is clear, it's time for the media and universities to stop playing along.

Boris Johnson, Donald Trump & Nelson Mandela are all (probably) descendants of Hammurabi (c. 1792 BCE).

So are you, so am I.

That is, if Babylonian King Hammurabi has ANY descendants alive today, then we're ALL probably his descendants.

Let's talk about the Identical Ancestors Point (IAP).
