A @data.ft.com analysis of the “China shock” shows that employment in China’s labor-intensive manufacturing industries has been declining since 2011. Roles in the textile industry alone shrank 40% from 2011-2019. Now, cheaper have factories moved to Vietnam and Indonesia where exports have surged.
