Australia Day is such bullshit. NSW proclamation day at best. At worst a celebration of the crimes of colonisation.

If you have to acknowledge that the day is a source of pain for many, that’s a damn good sign it’s a shit day to have as your national day.

"As for all the journalists, especially at Nine, who weaponised a terrorist massacre to campaign against Albanese, they might reflect on the fact that in politics, things rarely quite pan out how you expect them to. Or, more simply, be careful what you wish for." #auspol
Opinion | The Coalition and the media got what they wanted when they weaponised the Bondi atrocity. And now the Coalition is a smoking ruin. Well done, @keanebernard.bsky.social writes.

It's a huge mess, and we don't feel welcome. No shit we're avoiding the place.
“Australian travellers have given the Trump presidency a resounding thumbs down,” writes Greg Jericho, Chief Economist at The Australia Institute.

For yrs I've pondered a paradox:

1) The fact that crunch is poisonous to creative work
2) The fact that many of my favorite games were made with crunch

My answer:
Crunch allows a team to naively reach a crucial creative state, at high personal cost.

It can be reached w/o crunch

I think crunch in the games industry represents a failure of management and a violation of the social contract, particularly when applied "in advance" as opposed to in response to some emergency.

That said, my feelings on it are complex.

We crunched a LOT on System Shock 1 & 2 and Age of Myth.

We don’t dance on the grave of NFTs enough. I had a year where I was repeatedly told by bozos I was going to be irrelevant and extinct for not embracing them, I should be allowed a victory lap.

There are absolutely zero useful, functional robots here. there is one that can "wave to people at a museum" and "talk to you" (in extremely narrow situations) and there are industrial ones I guess but there is no "robot revolution" and to report otherwise is misleading to the general public.

With a huge international event unfolding, obviously the best thing for you to do here in Australia is to repost all sorts of random shit that you haven’t actually read. Seriously, you cunts are the core problem here. Just go to bed and read proper news in the morning. It’s not relevant to us now.

1. Headlines everywhere today read "Grok apologizes."

This is bullshit. A chatbot is not something that can apologize.

Pretending otherwise is simple laundering these companies' bullshit about what AI is, while diffusing blame away from the human beings that developed and released this system.
