“When the Thatcher government sold off the water industry in England and Wales in 1989, it promised better efficiency, greater investment and improved service quality. But more than three decades on, those promises have largely evaporated.”
Is privatised water undermining the UK’s green goals
The water industry is unpopular but more seriously, is it fit for purpose as the nation tries to meet the challenges of climate change

Farage is a longstanding supporter of a private healthcare and insurance model with the NHS retained as a low quality bare minimum service for the poor. Anyone old or with an expensive to insure condition would be mad to vote for him.
Nigel Farage still insisting that he has "never ever, ever suggested anything other than the NHS should be free".

Here's what he's said in the past behind closed doors

Ring-necked Duck still at Tallington Lakes today, but though still present and seen by others, the Ferruginous Duck eluded me @lincsbirding.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social

A superb letter to the Question Time production team. We will look back and realise, far too late, just how dangerous the bias was.
With Nigel Farage back on Question Time and with around 300,000 reads in over 144 countries but still with no response from Question Time

Here's @docrussjackson.bsky.social's open letter to the BBC about widely held concerns about why bias on #bbcqt is not going away

@lincsbirding.bsky.social @apcbirding.bsky.social As we begin the trawl through Lincolnshire 2023 records, several were noteworthy including two long-awaited unblockers for quite a few folk. Several Alpine Swifts and 13 European Bee-eaters in one flock! Amazing.

@lincsbirding.bsky.social despite their feral origin, 7 of these at Covenham Reservoir yesterday (3M, 4F) were a colourful sight.

Malawi II, a few post-editing shots.. Sharpe's Greenbul, Boulder Chat, Babbling Starling and a few other scarcities evaded my limited photographic abilities. 273 species overall, 15-20 short of what we expected/hoped for, still very enjoyable (when we weren't on the road...)

Just returned from an unexpectedly gruelling trip to Malawi. Awful roads but lovely people.

A couple from today at Frampton Marsh with @djrlincsbirder.bsky.social. Baird’s a little tricky to locate at times amidst a blizzard of Dunlin and Ringed Plover intermittently panicking as one of the local Peregrines kept an eye on everything.

A couple from the Lincs coast this week, though I missed last night’s Manx Shearwater “influx” of at least 57 in 2hr early evening. Not usually recorded in such numbers in the east!
