Co-host of Flyover Footy. Too many hobbies.
Thought I’d make a small announcement as we wrapped up the final official show of the season last night that I’ll be stepping away from weekly shows at @FlyoverFooty. It’s purely a family decision! I have three boys and their time needs grow yearly.

Had a blast w/ @phillgrooms.bsky.social again. 45 min of news and Montreal/CITY match talk and then a great wind down of big picture + discussion on this week’s off the field issues.

Hope you enjoy those convos as I think we hit a ton of #AllForCITY angles on all these
🚨NEW EPISODE🚨

Matt and I are still taking turns traveling, so a bit of a change in schedule. Thought I’d drop that we’re live streaming our show in about 30 minutes and I’m joined by @hornekerjustin.bsky.social!

Could be some rotation. @stuarthultgren.bsky.social guessed perhaps a Zalinsky start and I like it. If Wallem isn’t 90’ fit I hope we see JGR and Ostrak as subs.
Our Consensus Projected Starting XI for @stlcitysc.com facing @houstondynamo.com

Riddled with injuries to the midfield and CB corps, this is a best available + learning from last week. Still a strong attack but lots of questions defensively. #AllForCITY

What a game. Talking to my son and we’re listing who we’re rooting for. I know I get upset about MLs rules and Open Cup hate, but when CCC and CWC are on I root hard for the domestic clubs. Miami is my number one right now and a lot of that is bc there are 🇺🇸 to root for!
Thoroughly entertained by that Miami/Palmeiras match and Palmeiras coming back to draw it 2-2. Both teams going through and now we get Inter Miami v PSG in the #FIFACWC Rd of 16.

just saw a group of masked men stuffing masked ICE agents into an unmarked car, who were saying "we're ICE we're ICE!" but the abductors shouted to the crowd "no we're ICE!" no one knew who was ICE, so no one in the crowd said anything.

As we discussed this I actually kept forgetting good players were available. The guys agreed that Becher did enough to get another shot. I wanted Ostrak but Watts earned it…Wallem had to be put in. Good feeling to have a bench, but I hate missing out on Kessler and Löwen. 🥺
Our Consensus Projected Starting XI for @stlcitysc.com taking on #LAGalaxy this afternoon!

The biggest chance we took w/Kessler out is keeping Reid in at LB & Jannes Horn at the left CB role... Hiebert could just as easily take that or Horn at LB. #AllForCITY

Relevant: The MLS Secondary Transfer Window is scheduled to open on July 24, 2025, and close on August 21, 2025.

Critch will have Reid, Wallem, Totland, Watts, Hiebert, and Cilley as likely left back options until that window at the soonest. Only Reid and Cilley are left footed, if you care.
I hate to see Horn go…great player in STL at a bad time. All the best Jannes and thank you for your service.

On the bright side, there’s a roster slot opening up that could be filled with another left back…or if we find an attacker better than Wallem, he can go to left back. Opportunity?
St. Louis CITY SC defender Jannes Horn has been linked with a move to Austrian side Rapid Wien by Sky.

Sources stress that the transfer to Rapid isn't as advanced as reported. But he is set to leave St. Louis when his loan expires in the summer. He doesn't want to return to Nürnberg.

I’ll allow myself one social media hate post. Thatoughttadoit.
Olof was none of these things. Felt like he took a Bundesliga 2 team and tried to play like Wrexham. Just my opinion.

RE: is the roster good? Big debate and I hope we find out this season. Been fun to see pundits weigh in. My main point here, is that whether the roster has been good or bad…I truly think no coach has gotten it right. Hack was the closest IMO.
Second viz in here showing that despite Lutz claiming to yearn for that 2023 “DNA,” well… doesn’t seem he’s signed the players or coaches to do that.

Timing was on our side and we hit the ground running once the news broke. This one went fast—we’ve been saving up a lot of these thoughts for weeks or more. I thought Matt & I covered most thoughts with lots of help from the chat.
🚨BREAKING NEWS POD🚨

Olof Mellberg was relieved of his duties as @stlcitysc.com manager on Tuesday night. We went live immediately following to break it all down! #AllForCITY

Interesting…for those going after Lutz this could be a piece of your evidence.
...yeah, I don't think it's the coaches holding St. Louis City back.

Boy have I been bottling emotions for a long time trying to think as clearly as possible. I think that was the final straw for me…but emotions are fresh. We’ll see what morning brings.
May 22, 2025 at 1:34 AM
Open Cup is such a perfect carrot or lifeboat or both for Coach Mellberg. For CITY fans a run could spell redemption—especially for tournament truthers like me. Lastly, as I’ve said about the playoffs, Mellberg’s style melds well with knockout soccer. Truly rooting for him and the boys.
Been quite the fire drill last day & half in the #AllForCITY fanbase but I think it’s settle in time.

After Olof gave the presser & w/Tommy Scoops’ report that dismissal rumors are premature for the moment… it’s still Olof’s team heading into our #USOC2025 matchup on Wednesday.
May 20, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Matt and I haven’t talked about these specific details but he and I are mind melding here. Probably a very bad sign tbh. bsky.app/profile/matt...
Looking at last night’s game, I’ve got 2 very specific issues w/Saturday’s @stlcitysc.com approach, attributable to Olof:

Teuchert, a FW on a team that isn’t good at progressing on the ground & who isn’t an aerial specialist is your lone striker vs 3 tall CBs (1/3) #AllForCITY
May 18, 2025 at 8:28 PM
Repeatedly playing direct to players under 6 foot tall with 2 CB’s on them feels…pretty obviously wrong.
May 18, 2025 at 1:31 AM
I thought I’d have to put out a separate XI from Flyover bc I’m done wondering what Mellberg will do. Well…these are all the healthy/best players we can fit on the field and this is also my best XI today. bsky.app/profile/flyo...
Our Consensus Projected Starting XI for @stlcitysc.com taking on @mnufc.com tonight

Célio's hybrid LWB/LW role from midweek looked good so let's run that back. Injuries force certain spots but this may be one of our better looks if everyone is fit enough to go from midweek. #AllForCITY

Well St. Louis…we went over and over the blame game on our @flyoverfooty.bsky.social show that dropped this morning. Round and round: Diego, Olof, Lutz. THIS IS SUCH A PIVIT MOMENT. LA retains the coach and brings in analytical reinforcements. Interesting move. And timely for STL IMO.
Also as @paultenorio.bsky.social reported: LA Galaxy are hiring Ravi Ramineni to the front office.

Ramineni previously worked for the Seattle Sounders. Highly-respected analytical mind in MLS circles.
BREAKING: LA Galaxy & head coach Greg Vanney have reached a contract extension, sources say.
@paultenorio.bsky.social first reported

Galaxy won MLS Cup last year but are in historic 13-match winless run to start 2025

Vanney has won multiple trophies in career

Edu’s healthy and fit enough to play & just played last week. If he were with the team he’d be practicing and playing.

We all know what his family is dealing with. Any notion of Löwen not being at training is through that lens. He’s not just hanging out in the facility not training. #AllForCITY
I can’t seem to get an answer to this:

Is Edu with the team and not practicing or has he left the team again?
