The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Stephen Miller tried to claim only real "Americans" built the Empire State Building, but he left out the true stories of the Indigenous ironworkers who actually did. The Mohawk Skywalkers helped shape America's skylines—and shatter the lie behind Miller’s whitewashed nostalgia.

In 1949, Superman told schoolchildren “our country is made up of Americans of MANY different races, religions and national origins. So…

“…if YOU hear anybody talk against anyone else because of his religion, race or national origin — don’t wait: tell him THAT KIND OF TALK IS UN-AMERICAN.”

I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but the U.S. government is not a business and shouldn’t be run like one. It’s a service—for the people.

4/4 So it becomes easy to treat waste/inefficiency as the norm, because, hey, I don't really see what government is doing to make my life better.

But once it stops doing those things, you'll see what you've lost.

3/ And then we see the very occasional example of government waste/inefficiency, and that *does* seem salient.

2/ When illness from contaminated food is quite rare, we forget why food inspectors are so important. When air traffic is stunningly safe, we forget why the FAA is so important. When checks always go out on time, we forget why the SSA is so important.

1/ I wonder if there's a complement to Mettler's _Submerged State_ thesis: the successful state thesis. In brief: American government has *in many ways* been so successful for so long that Americans have forgotten why they need it, making anti-government rhetoric more appealing.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

Openly ignoring and defying the Judiciary.

Breaking his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States.

Granting himself unchecked power.

How dare a draft dodging dumb dupe humiliate an ally & berate a brave man who has actually been on a battlefield for his people?!

Hoping at least all of us are supporting the AP. We all have control over which sources we are consulting for our news
literally no other journalist should be going to these in basic solidarity with the AP at this point.
For a third straight day, an AP reporter was blocked from attending an Oval Office event, I'm told.
