#fluorescenceFriday (but a day earlier)
TH staining in cyan
Virus injection in magenta
Zona Incerta is definitely a tough cookie 🍪 but getting there!

Join us at 4:30 PM for a session fully dedicated to the medial #septum : inputs, outputs, and role in #motivation & #cognition. 🧠
Excited to share the stage with @smikulovic.bsky.social, @eliftuncozcan.bsky.social, and Dave Bortz. 👩🔬👨🔬

Still trying to improve the staining protocol, but love this pic of SN #neurons 🔬🧠🐭

These include:
- PV+ and calretinin+ neurons, confirming prior observations
- NPAS1+/Sst+ neurons, which form a distinctive subpopulation
- Nts expressing neurons, adding to the complexity of the GABA population

- one predominantly expresses Galanin, a neuropeptide largely underexplored
-one co-expresses GABAergic machinery, aligning with the previously reported ChAT-GABA co-releasing neurons

1️⃣ Gad1 and Gad2, traditionally considered specific to GABAergic neurons, also show unexpected expression in ChAT and VGluT2-expressing neurons, challenging established assumptions about neuronal markers in the MSDB.

I successfully defended my PhD thesis last week 🎓🇩🇪🎊
Thanks to my PhD supervisor, to the committee members, and to all the beautiful people that joined me in this incredible journey ❤️
Now, call me Dr. Mocellin!

I finally took the time to read @neurograce.bsky.social's book and it was a real pleasure!
Amazingly written, it spans a century of neuroscience experiments and highlights how other fields have contributed to our understanding of the brain.
I really loved it!
