If you’re considering coming to the Twin Cities, rest assured that while the weather may give the impression of being a bad thing, it’s actually how we keep things cool here.
Ask ChatGPT the following and share if you can.

“Describe how would a malignant narcissist be as president of the United States in 2025 and note highlights for what this person would do culturally, financially, legally, ethnically, globally, and related to the three branches of government.”

As predicted, The White House’s website version in Spanish has disappeared. I knew this would happen and yet I feel deeply sad.
January 20, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Posting a few screenshots of The White House’s website in Spanish on the last night of Biden’s presidency. I hope to be wrong but I would be willing to put money betting that tomorrow there won’t be a version in any other language but English for the Trump administration.

The hubs and I are re-watching 30 Rock for the millionth time and he spotted this bizarre wardrobe coincidence. I don’t know who dressed #Luigi but now I wonder if this was on purpose.

The problems we are having with TikTok, Meta and X are the logical end of the government’s failure to recognize that the internet is a public utility and therefore to treat it and regulate it as such.

Who is leaving Threads and Instagram? I don’t want to give Meta a single more minute of attention but it aches to leave my community behind. Should I just make the leap?

I’d bring back Rachel Maddow’s show to daily cadence and give @underthedesknews.bsky.social a weekend show.

New short reads. On Tyranny is a short quick read. I’ll take more time for Fighting Fascism. Excited for Democracy in Retrograde! I already had the audiobook but found that I needed the print version to make the most out of it. Big fan of @emilyinyourphone.bsky.social

Okay. I was taking a break from watching to heal after the election results but it looks like that’s not something we can afford to do. Back to watching MSNBC tonight and every night. We need our institutions alive if we are going to go through the next 4 years and come back stronger.
Elon Musk teases potential MSNBC offer: 'How much does it cost?'
Musk made a similar comment on social media years before he acquired X (then Twitter) in 2022.

I cannot help but to ask again: how long until Musk sues or buys Bluesky?

Trump Signals a ‘Seismic Shift,’ Shocking the Washington Establishment
The president-elect’s early transition moves amount to a generational test of a system as he seeks to rewrite the balance of power and install lieutenants to blow up key parts of government.

I left Twitter in October 2022 dreading what Musk would do but not sure if I was making a mistake. It’s a self-confirmation that I did the right thing when now I read y’all arriving here with glaring signs of PTSD marveling at how there are no bots and people can have real conversations.

Donald Trump is now (1) below 50% popular vote and (2) has a margin of popular vote victory roughly HALF of Hillary's victory in 2016. They believe the left has to lay down and shut up because of this "landslide" victory.

What are the chances that Musk buys @bsky.app?

An old man says to his grandson, there’s a fight inside me. It’s a fight between 2 wolves. One is evil, angry, greedy, jealous, arrogant and cowardly. The other is good, peaceful, loving, generous, honest and trustworthy. The boy asks, which wolf will win? The old man smiles - the one you feed.

Cats is also a special interest. I think I should better try to find joy in the little things.

Hmm. No. Can’t do.

Currently torn between throwing myself w/o measure towards consuming every thought piece/interview/OpEd about what we should do next and disassociating by hyperfocusing in one of my special interest like learning more about catastrophic natural disasters. I’m so fun to be around! #postelectionPTSD

I thought they wanted freedom of speech? People have opinions and if someone is gonna be a public figure, you better be okay with hearing critics.
Deus vult’ began as a rallying cry for the Crusades. More recently, it’s been adopted by the far right. And we’re not even supposed to wonder/ask why it’s tattooed on the arm of the next defense secretary?

This read was a shocking eye opener. First impulse was to be angry at the NYT for normalizing the cabinet picks, even when they’re abysmal. But instead of just letting the anger simmer, I’m trying to understand how people can see this so differently. How?
Trump’s Cabinet Picks, Panned in Washington, Thrill Many of His Voters
Where Donald J. Trump’s critics see underqualified nominees with questionable judgment, his voters described them as mavericks recruited to shake up Washington.

I just had a realization and it all makes sense now. We are living in the Matrix for real and someone turned on the “Coen brothers movie” mode in Settings. That would explain everything.
