History eventually finds the truth. Immerwahr will end up on its wrong side.
I subscribe to the @newyorker.com, I was part of ACT UP, I knew Larry Kramer well and know Tony Fauci too. Daniel Immerwahr's piece on RFKJr, features this and other passages that need a reponse. 1/

Amazing news. I’ve rarely felt panic like I did with PEPFAR’s shutdown. The meds for millions can continue for now.

I never dreamed it would get this bad, this fast. Trump has started the clock on murdering 26 million people currently living with HIV.

PEPFAR’s computer systems also are being taken offline, a sign that the program may not return, as Republican critics had hoped.

This is all very sad. AIDS Inc. kneels to Gilead.

Really sad.
By all means, let's try new ideas to improve public health, which surely suffers from status quo bias. But being being open-minded about cranks and grifters because any change is good? In what world are these people making careful policy choices?
Michael Mina is pro-MAHA because he’s an accelerationist, amazing development lol

This man knows his 🏳️‍🌈 history. Good 🧵

I know analogies between the gay-rights struggle and the trans struggle are inexact, but it's worth holding onto the fact that in the years right after Stonewall, anti-gay backlash was intense and virulent, and gay people suffered a number of legislative defeats and public-opinion setbacks. >

We can only hope/pray that this gets blocked in the courts.

According to the NYT my old friend Michael Blake @blakefornyc.bsky.social is joining the crowded field running against Mayor Eric Adams. We were resident fellows at Harvard's Institute of Politics in the fall of 2016. Here we are during a fellows' reunion in 2017 outside the Iowa State Capitol.

Yeah, @michaelmina.bsky.social’s quotes surprised me too, and not in a good way. After Deborah Birx’s comments on Face the Nation last weekend, it’s been a rough week for normalizing crazy.
Dr. Mina seems…unduly optimistic to me. “We are playing with fire with the shake-ups and choices, but at this point change is needed,” said Dr. Michael Mina… He said the agencies were often too slow... “At least there’s a better chance of positive change compared to complacency and more of the same”

I can’t tell you how different it is on X now after so many people have left. I have always followed mostly right-wing accounts because I cover them, and they are running out of people to pick fights with. So they’re just mostly fighting with each other.
