So they're thinking of rebooting the Indiana Jones films, I assume in order to change some of the dialogue to stuff like this…

Yes, just tools deployed without sincerity.

This is a far-too-often overlooked yet definitive aspect of fascism: that they are frauds, and only use the ideals they purport to represent -strength, purity, law, order, etc.- in a dishonest, cynical, and self-serving way to establish rule by crime.

Exposing absolutely blatant and incontrovertible Republican fascism didn’t work turn off “independent” voters during the last election—which included Nazi talk on a daily basis—and it didn’t work to turn them off over recent decades. I’m skeptical that it will start working that way now.

It is genuinely dangerous to think of this as an intelligence deficit. It is discursive warfare serving fascist ends.

It’s impervious to knowledge, learning or cognitive repair.

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
