If they are asylum seekers then they are not illegal migrants. They are fleeing horrific environments and it is our legal responsibility to help them. In concert with our European partners, definitely, but they still need and deserve protection.

The BBC is not left wing. It merely has a duty to impartiality*, unlike most news outlets, which will have quite different priorities

(*This isn't the same as saying it always manages impartiality)

Also I think it's relevant that the BBC is a highly significant news source in the US. Trump clearly sees its impartiality and reach as a threat bsky.app/profile/john...
It’s apologising season. The audience for BBC output in the US is just over 40 million, not 77 million as I said. That’s the figure for the Americas as a whole. But the BBC is indeed the second most trusted news source in the US.
