Sadly, the BBC website has prioritised a tabloid royal story of little global consequence

Just finished reading this superb book by Robert Darnton. The Revolutionary Temper details so many factors that led Parisians to contemplate a seismic change in what had seemed to be an unchangeable and unjust status quo in C18th France. Music was a surprisingly important factor, too

Adjacent stories on today's BBC website, but we persist in failing to see the link between them: our overseas foreign aid can make life sustainable in recipient countries and thus alleviate the desperate conditions that drive people to flee to the UK. But we are cutting foreign aid :(

Very exciting to receive in the post today the newly-publisjed copy of Judith Ward's winning introit from our composition competition last March, and hugely looking forward to its first performance on Sunday 27 July in Hereford Cathedral at the @threechoirs.bsky.social festival!
