I don’t make it up to Hollywood that often these days, but when I do, it’s to take the family to the world premiere of the new SpongeBob Movie: The Search for Squarepants at AFI Fest with special bonus short Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 Lost in New Jersey. Good times all around! 🧽🍍🍕🐢

I mean, were the ‘90s so long ago that Star Wars legends is remembered THAT highly? Yes, there are a lot of cool EU stories that would make great movies, but The Misadventures of Corran Horn, Sorta Jedi, Who Keeps Forgetting About His Missing Wife is not one of them.

What does “overwhelmingly one-sided” even mean in this context? And how is that framing newsworthy?
Film criticism isn’t a civic policy debate. Who is taking sides over whether a Superman movie is good or not? Enjoying a movie shouldn’t be ammunition in a culture war.

I appreciate the Criterion Channel curating a collection of Ripley films because I knew Patricia Highsmith wrote a series of novels, but I didn’t know how many movies there were, dating back way earlier than I realized.

This is mostly off the top of my head, so if you’d ask me tomorrow it might be a different list.
Also I love seeing everyone’s lists. There have been a lot of great movies in the last 25 years.

Watching early 90’s era Columbo, and Ian McShane guests in an episode and he is somehow not the killer?! He does get one good scene with Peter Falk, but can you imagine an entire episode of Lovejoy vs. Columbo???

Then I got a book about the making of Star Wars (Fon Davis mentions is in LIGHT & MAGIC, and I still have it!), and it showed the behind the scenes of the model shop at ILM, and I immediately started thinking, “How do they make these movies?!”

I’m watching classic Star Trek, and this has to be the most amazing stunt I’ve seen on a TV show. Face first off the transporter pad, no safety net.
