News of tragic deaths on Irish roads has been met by some who have mistakenly blamed fatalities on an unusual target: environmental policies.

Debunked: Increases in road deaths aren’t because cars are shrinking — they’re getting bigger
The average car has grown heavier by more than the weight of an adult giant panda since the year 2000.

An incredibly stupid decision if it comes to pass. And a big disappointment for the cafes.

As the world moves towards pedestrianising streets, and creating space for people, in #Wexford we're closing off streets to pedestrians and businesses

Bringing cars through Mallin Street 24 hours a day can only damage local cafes

The same with Henrietta Street - one step foward, two steps back

It's so encouraging to get a full house for this event. It's also the first time local councillors and TDs have attended one of our public events. The conversation is detailed, respectful, and engaged. We need an evidence-based strategy to #SaveLadysIslandLake
A full house here tonight for our event with @elainemcgoff.bsky.social from @antaisce.bsky.social including two Oireachtas members: Wexford Labour TD George Lawlor and @greenpartyie.bsky.social Senator @malcolmnoonan.bsky.social which is very encouraging. Big takeaway from @elainemcgoff.bsky.social's interesting talk in Lady's Island, #Wexford this evening

According to the science, buffer zones around land are a waste of time (bushes, grasses etc) when it comes to #nitrogen

Gardaí are still developing an online portal to "facilitate the uploading and submission of video footage to An Garda Síochána by the public" the Minister for Justice has confirmed. In a parliamentary question, Roderic O'Gorman, Green Party leader and a TD for Dublin West, asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality, "when the online portal to submit video evidence of road traffic offences will become operational."

Switching 50km/h speed limits to 30km/h would protect cyclists while barely affecting commutes, research finds
One expert says a cyclist hit by a car travelling 50km/h has about a one-in-10 chance of surviving, while at 30km/h it is a nine-in-10 chance

Tentatively yes?

The real test will be council elections and then the general, whenever it happens #IrelandDecides #Ireland #Election
They were likely never going to be let in, in fairness

Is it possible that Labour, Greens, SocDems and PBP (and Sinn Féin, if they can decide which side of the political spectrum they’re on) can form a coherent opposition now and give voters a real choice ahead of the next General Election?
Labour has officially withdrawn from talks about potentially forming a government.

Leader Ivana Bacik says the 'policy gap' between Labour and FF and FG would mean it's 'not possible to implement policy priorities' in their manifesto.
