Anyone read #Sapiens? 4 chapters in and absolutely loving it! 2.5 million years humans have roamed this Earth and here's me just realising I know nothing about it other than we're related to chimps.

I went on Piers Morgan to talk with Eric Weinstein. Not a productive conversation, alas.

From singe cell organisms to humans and AI in 500 million years. The most likely encounter with #aliens would be another Earth civilization finding out about us far into the #future, after we are long gone.

#TheMANIAC This must go down as one of the most profound book of the century, providing us a glimpse into the possible #future by looking at the past and present. I really enjoyed it.

Inside #Claude and how #AI (might) actually work. It's quite bizarre to say the least.

Really good work on the video by @matthew-berman.bsky.social.

Apparently #vibecoding a #golang project costs less than #nodejs when using Sonnet 3.7

Still trying to figure this out.

Amazon's Alexa devices will now send all audio recordings to the cloud, impacting privacy settings and personalization features. Users must balance privacy with functionality in this updated system. doi.org/g898v8
Everything you say to an Alexa speaker will be sent to Amazon—starting today
Amazon has disabled two key privacy features in its Alexa smart speakers, in a push to introduce artificial intelligence-powered "agentic capabilities" and turn a profit from the popular devices.

Very well put in the light of recent trend events in #programming.
1/ Everyone's talking about vibe coding.

Vibe coding is the future of building software.
You don’t write code.
You tell an AI what you want in plain English.

The AI does the hard part
And writes the code for you.
It’s fast, easy, anyone can do it.
No coding skills needed.

BUT!

Using openrouter, cline and sonnet to make a typescript web app in vscode.

So far pretty good results for about $1 spent. Didn't expect this tbh.

My background: seasoned dev with 2 decades of XP.

Trying to learn more about #ActivityPub and maybe the #ATProtocol. Found an already 2 year old video by @justingarrison.com which was quite good. Perhaps some things are outdated or inaccurate, not sure at this point, but still a good intro before I get to dive into the detailed specs.

The world is set to move rapidly into the Age of Electricity ⚡️

In recent years, electricity rose 2x as fast as total energy demand

But from now to 2035, it's set to grow 6x as fast, driven by EVs, air conditioners, AI & more

#Humans are estimated to be about 8.2 billion. As it turns out this approximation may be miscalculated. We could be well above 10 billion already.

I like the 2nd law of Engels's dialectics: "The law of the passage of quantitative changes into qualitative changes"

Much can be attributed to it in the context of social phenomena and I wonder if research is being done about large-scale society changes as a function behavior and economics.
