What a show with so many delighted people! It’s been a while since I felt my ribs shaking from the bass! Proud of my young Aotearoans, they sang along to everything, but very, very noticeably refused to sing a chorus which included “…my n*gg**s” despite opening act Paris Texas’ best exhortations.

The New Zealand parliament buildings. The original classical revival structure was halted mid-build due to bad project management then WWI and not finished; it’s quite literally half a building with only the centre and north wing completed. Eventually the round “Beehive” was added on in the ‘70s, designed to be deliberately jarring. The design wholeheartedly embraced the idea that if you can’t hide something, flaunt it! While the Beehive is its own landmark whether it’s your taste or not, the original buildings still look glaringly half-done and stupid. At least the resultant ugliness of this structure has a story and lessons to learn that aren’t solely about indulging one oligarch (although to be fair there was a little of that involved). TLDR it looks dumb and no one should be emulating this!
