I have lately been getting much more involved in community outreach! I helped run the tables at the Eastern Maine Sportsman Conference and the Maine Science Festival this month.

I have been so busy, but I hope to get back into sharing update on my research and engaging with others in the field here

This February, I presented my proposal for my master's thesis, which I look forward to sharing more about here as time goes on.

I'm currently putting together an ARU survey protocol we hope to implement this summer.

I also was able to add quite a few bird and mammal lifers, some highlights being elk, American pika, Short-tailed Weasel, and an American Dipper.

In total, I got 9 bird lifers!

I also set up Song Meter Minis to collect more data and am experimenting with them to assess their use in forest bird surveys going forward.

I've been quite busy with my research, Teaching Assistant responsibilities, and coursework, but I'm looking forward to where these next two years take me!

In less than a month, I went from hot, humid Florida grasslands to cool, buggy Maine woods.

This summer, I surveyed transects in various silvicultural treatments on different properties across the state, all of which have collaboration with the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit.

I will be helping out with territory mapping, nest searching and protection, and release of captive-reared sparrows. I'll also be helping out occasionally with some of the other threatened and endangered species projects.
I look forward to sharing what I get to see and do!

It's really exciting to be able to contribute more to the library and I hope that as I go to new places, I can continue to obtain media and information in the species we're lacking.

You can see all the audio recordings I obtained while on Midway here!
