I have lately been getting much more involved in community outreach! I helped run the tables at the Eastern Maine Sportsman Conference and the Maine Science Festival this month.

I have been so busy, but I hope to get back into sharing update on my research and engaging with others in the field here

I also was able to add quite a few bird and mammal lifers, some highlights being elk, American pika, Short-tailed Weasel, and an American Dipper.

In total, I got 9 bird lifers!

It's been some time since I've been on here so it's about time I share some updates of these past 6 months!

In October, I went to the AOS conference in Colorado. It was an incredible experience. I presented my undergraduate research and learned a lot which I've applied towards my current research.

In less than a month, I went from hot, humid Florida grasslands to cool, buggy Maine woods.

This summer, I surveyed transects in various silvicultural treatments on different properties across the state, all of which have collaboration with the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit.

On my second to last day of work in Florida and searching for this nest specifically for almost a week...I finally found it today! My first Florida Grasshopper Sparrow nest I found on my own.
Good luck little ones. I'll be rooting for this nest a thousand miles away.

Excited to share I will be at #AOS24! This is the first science conference I have ever been to, aside from one day events, and I'm presenting a poster! I am super excited to get to learn more, meet new people, and do some birding in Colorado.

Accidentally found my first Common Nighthawk nest today! Can you spot the eggs and the parent?

Checked in on a Florida Grasshopper Sparrow nest and had four little faces looks right back up to me!

These four nestlings are at least 7 days old, meaning they may fledge any day now. They grow quite fast!

A nervous, young raccoon found their way into the office dumpster the other day. We provided a rake to help them get out and even after making their way out, they were too scared to jump down! They eventually climbed down and waddled away.

The Florida dry prairie isn't looking very dry...

The combination of El Niño and a storm last night left what should be a dry, sandy ground flooded. From the sounds of it, it's been unusual weather this year.

Excited to finally share where I will be spending my spring and summer field season...
I'm a Seasonal Research Technician at Archbold Biological Station assisting in Florida Grasshopper Sparrow monitoring and conservation as a part of their Conservation of Military Landscapes project!

Too excited to not share my first lifer of the year and #402: Tundra Swan!

I stopped by Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck NWR where there is a wintering colony. I spotted over 50 swans during my morning there!
